Apart from Hiroshima and Nagasaki, had the U.S. wanted to drop a third atom bomb on Japan, Tokyo was to be the target. However, Japan surrendered before that, on Aug. 15, 1945. |

These two remind me of a story: A few years ago Pontiac enthusiast Jeff Denison got together a couple fellow Judge owners for a photo shoot at a fairly famous coney island restaurant on Woodward. They closed the restaurant down, covered over the stripes, wet down the pavement and positioned the cars for the shoot. While they were working a lady stopped by and attempted to enter the restaurant. When Jeff informed her the restaurant was closed she started to get belligerent. "I'm trying to get inside to eat" she said. "I'm sorry - the restaurant is closed" Jeff replied. "We are doing a photo shoot for a calendar". "But - there's people in there".... "Those are 'actors'". Jeff explained that in order to make it appear more authentic they placed a couple of spectators, vehicle owners and their kids inside. After a couple more volleys the lady finally stormed off. "Geez" she said "I just wanted a damn coney! K |

Clubs like a gambling club in Saratoga Springs, New York, as well as the Union Club of New York City, take credit for creating the now beloved club sandwich, short for “clubhouse.” But a new theory is floating around that the “club” is actually an acronym, standing for “chicken lettuce under bacon.” |
This picture has been my computer background for years :)

Seniors at a Wisconsin high school pulled off what police are calling one of the best senior pranks they've ever seen. At first glance, it looks like a terrible crash: A car plowed into the side of Cumberland High School, but it's actually an optical illusion, thanks to the creative use of tape and a tarp, some bricks, tire marks, and a half a car. |

One other observation: notice all the tread tracks on the pavement? Reminds me of a story (lol):
When we did the photo shoot on my Chevelle for Popular Hot Rodding, naturally we did the obligatory "burnout" shot. I guess I've never done a burnout that wasn't at the drag strip, so I didn't realize the level of "stiction" on the road surface while the tires were hot. After the burnout I putt-putted over to the next location and the car left these two black stripes the whole way even though I was going about two mph. Photos were by Robert McGaffin; he had me drive around and around in a circle until the lighting or angle would be just right, then he'd snap a photo and have me circle around and do another. Naturally it was leaving these black stripes on the pavement as I went round and round (the spool in the rear axle probably didn't help in this regard either). At any rate - take a look at the published photo. He photoshopped the stripes out from behind the car, for artistic license, but they remain in front of the car.* Same photos and text were used for Popular Hot Rodding, Super Chevy and "Chevelle: Chevy's Hi Performance Muscle Car or Some Such Thing" magazines. K *also - my son Joseph was sitting in the car with his foot on the brake, to illuminate the brake lights for that shot. He was also tasked with taking the "behind the scenes" photo of the burnout shot but got so caught up in the moment he forgot to click the shutter. :( |

Ok - one more (lol):
Robert McGaffin's signature move is these photos where it looks like the car is in motion. The way he does that is he attaches a boom to the underside of the car and the takes a timed exposure, walking backwards while the car slowly rolls forward. He photoshops the structure out of the photo and you end up with this very dynamic looking shot. So - we set up the shot and he explained what we were going to do. ("Hands at 10 and 2 o clock, and don't stick your tongue out" he said). He asked me to turn the wheel slightly to the left for artistic purposes. I told him "Robert. This is a 3600 lb racecar with a spool. It doesn't turn and roll. It only goes straight." He said "that's ok. We'll have my assistant, Bubba (I don't remember his real name) give you a little push to get you going". I wasn't so sure about that. Needless to say Bubba gradually increased his efforts until he was sweating profusely and quite red in the face. Robert took a step back to re-asses the situation. "Maybe you could leave the wheels straight" he said. :) |

Bendix Electrojection. Those two words right there are all you need to know as to why this is the most rare hemi intake manifold the factory ever produced. For those of you who do not know the story, back in 1958 Chrysler decided to give their customers the option of electronic fuel injection on several models. The system, designed by Bendix was way ahead of its time and it was basically a disaster. The few people who bought it, 35 Chrysler 300D models were sold with the unit installed, all had them swapped out for carbs by the time it was done. There is literally a handful of cars in the world left running with this fuel injection system on it and as best we know, less five are hemi powered Chryslers. The system was also offered on wedge engines like the 361 in DeSoto Adventurer. https://bangshift.com/bangshiftapex/...manifold-ever/ https://s26.postimg.cc/ya6dvvkvt/untitled.png |
