Ron has also been steady on things today. The insides of the doors and trunk lid were sanded and sprayed with some color today. He also moved the car onto the rotisserie and will now get the floors and the firewall finished up. Won't be long until the jambs will all be in color too. Then I can get it back down and make it a roller again.

That DY looks great!

Got back to some other parts that needed finishing before it all goes back under the body. The diff and the springs were reunited with the traction bars and some temporary drums were drilled to fit over the axles and studs. Also did a test fit of some Lakewood shocks and might use these in combination with the Air Lift Bags. Next up I'll mount some old wheels up and it's ready to go back under the car in a week or two. The J-bar hardware will not be added until the suspension is loaded up and there's some good weight on it.

Dropped off the front end sheet metal today and things are plugging along. Floors were all sanded today and were then seam sealed. Should be dry enough to prime the floors tomorrow and then he'll add some black to the front firewall and the lower floorboards. From there it'll be time to paint the wheel housings, lower rockers, cowl sides, cowl top, and upper jambs in yellow. Ron will then paint the dash top black, back window corners and trim, and then the cowl opening with the correct gloss black stripe color.
I'll then be mounting the fuel line, front sub-frame, sub-frame connectors and the rear suspension will be then be hung to make it a roller again. The hood and the fenders won't take long and before I know it, the front clip will be painted on the insides before going back together. This thing is flying along now. I better get those inner front fenders lined with dust shields as it's going to be ready for those real soon. https://i.ibb.co/MNv9Dh1/IMG-3727.jpg https://i.ibb.co/MNhDYp9/IMG-3730.jpg https://i.ibb.co/zVr3vZj/IMG-3733.jpg https://i.ibb.co/7GKF8gx/IMG-3735.jpg |
Great progress. Are you planning to reattach the standard single exhaust hanger bracket back on the driver’s side trunk floor?
|
Nope.
Ron asked me, what this bracket for and do you want me to reinstall it on the new floor. I said it's a head knocker...and asked him to leave it off. |
Looks great! What are the holes in the outer wheel wells for? I know the lower one is a body plug.
Did you say 'frame connectors' ... |

I believe this Camaro came with the optional liquid tire chain option. |
Yes Sir. One of only 188 Camaro's to have had RPO V75 installed by the factory. An option also found in many Copo cars as it turns out. Everyone must have been using it for burnouts back in the day.
