My buddy Scott and I have a running joke:

Me: Is that that one track, kinda out in the boonies, you drive through a bunch of corn fields and then take a left on this little dirt road....

Scott: That could be anywhere.

My dad had a set of feeler gages with a bunch of the ends chopped off.

Somebody had borrowed them and used them to set the clearance on a sheet metal stamping die.

I still have them.

I bought a feeler gauge set once to use as shims for a trigger job and now have a few in it with missing tips.
