Re: ROTTING MUSCLECARS
Glenn, I didn't post the picture of the 4 door I anilelated! I still want the front end off of it! And Chris, I had to post it in here. It's in primer. LOL M, I think that you were nice enough to leave some parts for me! LOL I dug deep into some Nova's to look for the little tricks and trinkets. Even found some ashtray bumpers for Sammy! LOL Just remember, some parts interchange. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/headbang.gif

Hmmm..... Looks like a road trip is in order! I'll be up in that neck of the woods this Saturday - but won't be able to pull away from the family reunion..... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/frown.gif Looks like a goodie, is it a '70 - how is the cowl & top of the firewall?
|
Re: ROTTING MUSCLECARS
There were plenty to choose from. That cowl panel was in a one shape and the top of the firewall was a little ratty by the wiper motor if I remember correctly. Just stay away from the code 26 Rally Nova please. I want to see if he would sell it whole....LOL

Re: ROTTING MUSCLECARS
A few weeks ago on craigslist I came across an ad that stated, "Parting out 1969 Chevelle." There was a single 3/4 front picture showing what looked like an SS rally wheel, but no mention of SS in the ad. I called, and sure enough it was a real SS car. Original Cortez Silver with a Parchment interior and factory 4-speed. The disc brakes (already sold) and two rallys were the only worthwhile parts left on the car. I ended up with the rallys. Not a salvageable panel on it, except for the floorpan. I guess the car had been rolled over a decade ago and had been sitting in the towing yard ever since. Sad end to what must have been a beautiful car when new. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/frown.gif

Re: ROTTING MUSCLECARS
-----Rainer,,,Awhile back I asked the question "do 69 Chevelle SSs sometimes come with thin pinstripes" and this car would tend to answer that question. Was it original paint? I sort of remembered seeing SSs with the thin stripes and like the look on the right car......Bill S
|
Re: ROTTING MUSCLECARS
Bill - I didn't look that closely, but I believe the car had been repainted at some point because the paint still had gloss to it. I don't think it would have held up like that if it had been the original lacquer.

Re: ROTTING MUSCLECARS
Was that Chevelle ad on CL from Wisconsin?
|
Re: ROTTING MUSCLECARS
No, CL in Oregon.

64 GTO?

64 GTO? [/ QUOTE ] I'd know that 3/4 roof angle anywhere, thats a 63-65 Buick Riviera, great cars. |
Re: ROTTING MUSCLECARS
Looks like 64-65 A body to me.

Re: ROTTING MUSCLECARS
That was my first guess also. Not a Riv. The Riv's quarter rises up towards the rear of the glass, this window is flat on bottom.

Looks like 64-65 A body to me. Jason [/ QUOTE ] I even took a second glance at that idea too, the window is close but it is missing the first body line two inches below window. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/shocked.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/confused.gif And this looks like a.....?? - - http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...435/rot049.jpg -- |
Re: ROTTING MUSCLECARS
I don't have the answer - I was screwing around looking for cars and found this bunch as it was getting late and
didn't have time to get out and look. I was thinking '64 Chevelle / Skylark also. Chris - if you check out the third photo - it looks like that other body line may fall below the eye line of the shot?? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif - - http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...g427435/bs.jpg - http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...427435/bs1.jpg - http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...427435/bs2.jpg - http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...435/rot049.jpg - |

I think we're close on the A-Body, but not a Chevelle,look at the door upper and the handle.different. Thinking of more Pontiac 64/65 GTO,Lemans.Tempest . https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/confused.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif

Re: ROTTING MUSCLECARS
It doesn't seem to have the kick up in the body line of the quarter panel behind the door that 64/65 Poncho A-body cars have?.

Re: ROTTING MUSCLECARS
Yeah, you're right. I'm trying to get a photo of a 64 GTO off my phone, but I don't have a 10 year old to show me how. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/blush.gif

Re: ROTTING MUSCLECARS
Yeah, you're right about the body line. how about a same era olds? anyone got a picture?

Re: ROTTING MUSCLECARS
There's a little rise on the body line just behind the door handle on the GTO, that doesn't show on the dark car.
|
Re: ROTTING MUSCLECARS
Really? because I think I can see it on the dark car. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif

Let's find it on Google Earth. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif

I would have to agree that the body line is different - I'm going to have to make the 100 mile round trip
to find out - aren't I?? - - http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t.../am64gtodr.jpg - http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...435/rot049.jpg |

Re: ROTTING MUSCLECARS
Stumbled across this little gem this evening while driving past a local tire and auto center in my neck of the woods. From what I could see, it was very intact, just plenty neglected. Looks like it was there for a while judging by the flats. Bench seat, four speed car with black interior and cowl induction hood. I couldn't check under the hood for the 396 as one of the hood pins had a padlock on it. I didn't think to check the year of the inspection sticker, if any, as I needed to be elsewhere and had to keep moving. If anyone has an interest, PM me and I will be happy to pass on the phone number of the establishment where the car is sitting. Definitely worth saving! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/headbang.gif (I accidently got a shot of my Jeep in the background of the third image)
