Re: 2008 Nova Nationals..
Grady's car is very nice. That is a good color on a nova. We have one in line that color with a black vinyl top to do. After looking at Grady's, I get the itch to get after that one.
Sammy wasn't tryin to hide, he dropped a pretzel down there. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif Lotta cool novas. Always good to see bbbenny's again. Very cool. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif |

He's the one in the white shoes. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/tongue.gif I also agree it's good to see so many sYc members together enjoying the cars and each others' company. Great bunch there; both cars and folks! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif Too bad Marlin couldn't have made it but we all understand 'priorities'. I tried to make it there on our way back from N.C. but time just wasn't on our side. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/crazy.gif Great coverage as usual Mr. T! OK, it's 10:35 am eastern time. At 10:45 across the country everyone needs to yell out "Ken,don't do it". Maybe that will help but I doubt it.

Tibor did a great job as usual taking photos and breaking balls https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif It is really hard to show you how good this event was...the pictures only scratch the surface!! This is the best "PEOPLE" event there is....NNN celebrated 25 years of family fun and dedication to the lowly Nova https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smirk.gif There were lots of first timers like Mike, Grady and Sully and some who have been coming for 25 years. Wayne and Shirley and all their great helpers put on one heck of a show. I was proud to be there and be a part of the event....here are some of the highlights:
Bruce Bartolotta and his gal Rita...they hail from Glens Falls, NY....Bruce won the door prize drawing for a TH-350 tranny...professionally built with shift kit and all the good stuff....he really couldn't use it so he donated it back to the show and it was auctioned off for over $500!!! the proceeds will go to help Nova families in Iowa devastated by the recent floods...that's what I call first rate https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif ps...it was his first Nova Nats!! https://www.yenko.net/attachments/350110-tn_IMG_0004.jpg |

Following the luncheon reception we were treated to a really special surprise...Wayne made arrangements for the top "Lincoln Impersonator" in the country to put on a little show for us. He was escorted in by a period honor guard and spoke for approx. 30 minutes. He told us the story of Lincoln's life and finished with the Gettysburg Address....everyone was moved and impressed https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/flag.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/flag.gif

Grady Burch wowed the crowd with his 69 L78 Cordovan Maroon Nova SS....to say that this car is stunning is an understatement!!!...Mike Angelo did one of the finest restos I have seen...being an L78 fan I was very impressed. Watch out if this car comes to "your local show"...these boys will be in the winner's circle https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/3gears.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

Tom
Glad your back safe and sound. Grady and me had a nice ride back with zero wet stuff. It was a good time and and a well planned and executed event at an outstanding location. Wayne and the NNN https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/worship.gif Thanks for a great time. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif The best part for me was spending my %$ https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/tongue.gif birthday at a car show and meeting up with some of the sYc guys, Wilma, Sully, sc69sam, GTO Don, Benny, and especially Ken Tibor for his "Bruce Like Coverage" of the show https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/worship.gif I never even had to get my camera out ! My other big enjoyment was seeing Grady do so well at this first showing of his Nova. He was very determinded to use only the best stuff during the restoration, that made my part a joy to do this car for him. And together, we both learned a bunch about 69 Nova's. With some good info coming from this show. Can't wait for VetteFest now https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/laugh.gif Mike https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif |

Re: 2008 Nova Nationals..
Tom, Benny you guys were right. I was real impressed with that show. Low key, small scale and alot of fun! I think it is time for the nova and the nova supporters to start to get there dues. Grady's, Sully's and Benny's cars are second to none. I guess I need to get me a BB nova! I know Donny had a good time also. We did miss M though. Wayne B. I don't know you but thanks for a real nice show. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/3gears.gif Mike Angelo, Ken Tibor https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif to ya!

Re: 2008 Nova Nationals..
Not to Beat a Dead Horse.......But.....Again.....I have Expanded my "Car Guy" Friendship base to another Level with this Event....Jimmy Sullivan, Donnie White, Mike (Dr. Detail) Angelo, Grady Burch, and many other Nova guys that I met, Had great conversations with, and never found out their names......Thank God for Al Gore inventing the Internet to make all this possible https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif Again, We Get It!

Re: 2008 Nova Nationals..
Tom,
Yes I was very happy with how well the car did it's first time out. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gif All this would not have been possible without all of Mike's hard work. Again, Thank You Mike. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/worship.gif I was also happy to meet some of the SYC members and get a chance to talk to them. Wilma, Ken, Sully, sc69sam, Benny, GTO Don, great to meet you guys. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif Would like to thank Wayne for putting together such a great show in a very nice location. As Mike said earlier I also am looking forward to VetteFest. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/burnout.gif |

Re: 2008 Nova Nationals..
Although I've never seen Grady's car (Mike's work) in person, if the photos are ANY indication of the quality it's no surprise it swept the awards. Looking forward to drooling over her in Rosemont this November. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif
Congrats to both of you. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif And NOW you understand why this site is the best one on the web. It's the PEOPLE!!!!!!! |

Looks just like my old ride, except I did not have the trim on the side. ? for Jim. Mine came with dog dish caps that looked like baby moons with the Chevy emblem on them ???

Finally have a chance to sit down and chime in on the blast we had at the Nova 'Nats, Wilma, Kenny (Kwhizz), Mike and Grady, Benny, Don and Sammy all absolute CADILLAC people to be around, highlights: #1 getting Motrin at the CVS(for a blown out elbow due to bad golf), stopping at a red light and having a 71 Z28 pull up along side, light goes green, RPM's up and we're off , he had me out of the hole, but after 2nd gear it was over for him, all at 9:30 AM #2. Meeting the 2nd owner of my car, Carl, who had it from 73-76 (see pic), the story goes that one day in 76 when it wouldn't start he called to have it towed, they towed it and the guy said he owes $25 bucks for the tow, Carl said "KEEP THE CAR, I HAVE NO $$" unbelievable.! Took him for a ride and his last words when he was leaving " Thank you Jim, I will never forget this day" No Carl, Thank you. Looking forward to meeting everyone again at Vettefest, too bad it's only 2 days. To answer the question about the license plate frame, they are from Wm Pape Chevy in my town of Huntington NY. I found a bunch of pairs NOS and threw them on. Pape was a fairly serious HiPo dealer back in the day. SULLY
