Now that farmer is a gentleman. Unfortunately money is more important than someones word these days. It's a shame really... [/ QUOTE ] Maybe the first nay-sayer right here... Re: '69 X77 302DZ Camaro Barn Find
He was happy to get what he was asking for the car and didn't ask questions. I have my other car for sale as well. which ever goes first, I'll keep the other. My intentions were good. Things are what they are and one has to go.
For all the "Nay-Sayers", this car would be an investment opportunity to anyone amongst other things. To me right now, I need to sell it. There is no way I could pass on it. I would love to keep it but would probably go insane worrying about the what ifs when it is finished. I would enjoy a driver, and will eventually have one, rather than a #s matching car. |

The only drawback would be time to do it. I'm not in a hurry and have no intentions of cutting corners. But it could also be an investment opportunity as well. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/wink.gif Who knows, I just might flip it. Haven't decided yet. [/ QUOTE ] Well, now we know....... Now that you have placed this for sale, what is the amount you are looking for? "Best offer" does not work here. |
Re: '69 X77 302DZ Camaro Barn Find
I hate to see it up for sale myself. I was looking forward to seeing this car put back to its former glory. |
Re: '69 X77 302DZ Camaro Barn Find
I would have the motor checked out....drop it back in, clean it up and drive it. Should get alot of attention at local shows.

Re: '69 X77 302DZ Camaro Barn Find
I wanted to see it back on the road with before and after pics too. It's a shame he bought it just to flip that quick. He says that he wants a driver someday, hell all he has to do is clean it up and reinstall the motor an trans and he has his driver. If he gets 60k for that car i should be able to get 80k for my Z,which is noway a 80k car.

Re: '69 X77 302DZ Camaro Barn Find
If he gets 60K for that, I'll GIVE you my Z!
|
Re: '69 X77 302DZ Camaro Barn Find
40k is closer to the number... he gave 15-16k for it (I know is irrevelant)

Since we're spouting off numbers related to other people's purchases, how much did you pay for the black one you're asking 90k for? DOESN'T MATTER IF THE CAR WAS A GIFT TO HIM. HE CAN ASK WHATEVER HIS HEART DESIRES. IT TAKES ALOT A NERVE FOR SOMEONE TO SPOUT OFF WHAT THE CAR WAS PURCHASED FOR ON AN OPEN FORUM WHEN IT IS OF NO CONCERN TO THEM.I HEAR OF SCENARIOS LIKE THIS DAY IN AND DAY OUT AND IT JUST TURNS MY STOMACH. THIS IS COMING FROM A GUY THAT WANTS $90K FOR A BLACK Z/28 WITH A CE MOTOR RIGHT ??? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/rolleyes.gif KP |
Re: '69 X77 302DZ Camaro Barn Find
I knew I was going to get ripped on that one... I said it is irrelevant... the black car was alot more than 15-16k... and the numbers given at that time were a value of approx 50k as is... no work done. There was more than 15k in work and parts collected to put the black car to where it is.
Granted this car does have the original engine and paperwork... but from what I saw it looks as though there are holes rusted through the fenders... so I said a number of 40k as is... maybe a little more. That is not a number I would be willing to pay seeing as the car is going to need a complete exterior resto... (bare minimum) can't see the car being worth more than 80-90k restored. If the rust damage is not as extensive as I would imagine it is... then maybe the car is worth $50k. Who cares if the previous purchase price is "spouted out" the money is always made on the buy side and just because someone knows what was paid for the car does not make the car or (any car for that matter) worth any less. He bought the car below market, he was happy and the seller was happy, that's the best deal when both parties walk away happy. |
well whats is this nova

Re: well whats is this nova
If Rob gets 60K for it, good on him but if he sticks to that price, he will be in the same game as James (still waiting). Ultimately the market lets everyone know what everything is worth. I believe if Charley still has his L89 for sale at 150K and Colin still has the rare wing car available, there will not be a line up at 60K for this car anytime soon.

Re: '69 X77 302DZ Camaro Barn Find
THERE IS ALWAYS TWO SIDES TO THESE KINDS OF STORIES. YES THE BUYER DID USE THE SITE FOR INFO THAT I AM SURE HELPED HIM MAKE THE BEST DEAL HE COULD. BUT LETS BE TRUE HERE SOME OF US ARE IN THE HOBBY TO MAKE MONEY AND SOME FOR OTHER REASONS. LET BE GLAD THAT A REAL 69 Z28 WILL HOPEFULLY MAKE IT WAY BACK ON THE ROAD FOR ALL OF US TO SEE. LIKE FIRST GEN SAID IF ALL PARTIES WHERE HAPPY WITH THE DEAL THEN SO BE IT. IF THE GUY TOOK ADVATAGE OF THE FRAMER THEN MAYBE WHAT GOES AROUND WILL COME AROUND SOME DAY
|
Re: '69 X77 302DZ Camaro Barn Find
Exactly... the seller of the black car doesn't need the money and would rather have the car than the 85k that has been offered... it will either be the same case with the silver car or if he truly wants to sell it... market prices will prevail. I for one would like to know what the REAL market is (for a barn find like the silver car) between 2 knowledgeable parties.

You don't mind telling what others pay when trying to sell. Why not tell what was paid for the one you are trying to sell? JMO, James |
Re: '69 X77 302DZ Camaro Barn Find
I DID NOT HAVE A PROBLEM GETTNG JAMES WHO WAS HANDLEING THE BLACK 69 THE FIRSTTIME IT WAS ONTHE BOARD. HE TOLD ME THE WHOLE STORY ABOUT THR RUNING GEAR AND THE OTHER GUY WHO USE TO WORK ON IT AND TRIED TO BUY IT ALSO BUT WAS UPSET WHEN HE DID NOT GET. NOW !! I DO AGREE THAT FIRST GEN IS TRYING TO HIT A HOME RUN ON THE PROFIT SIDE, BUT IT IS HIS CAR AND IT IS ONLY WORTH WHAT SOMEONE IS WILLING TO PAY AND AS OF RIGHT NOW THE MARKET SAYS NO NOT QUITE THAT MUCH. AGIN LETS BE GLAD THAT A REAL 69 Z28 THAT HAD BEEN IN THAT BARN FOR QUITE SOME TIME IS FINALLY COMING OUT AND SOME ONE WILL PUT HER BACK ON THE ROAD, AND SHE DID NOT IN UP IN A JUNK YARD SOMEWHERE.

Re: '69 X77 302DZ Camaro Barn Find
What was paid for the black car was posted along time ago... 35k... That being said... I wish I would have found the silver car for what it was bought for... I don't have a problem with people knowing what was paid for something. What something was bought for and what it is worth are totally unrelated!!!

Re: '69 X77 302DZ Camaro Barn Find
Never really understood why what was paid is so secret... we all tout auction prices all the time... but heaven forbid anyone throw out a low number...

Re: '69 X77 302DZ Camaro Barn Find
I think it is fair to say that when a car trades hands, it's a win-win situation, (unless the seller has to take the money right then, for whatever reason).
As was dicussed in the thread on capital gains, it does not matter how much money is made, it matters that you report the transaction. If it's not your car, you can offer your opinion, but you can also get flamed for doing that. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif Too many times on this board have there been threads like this where somebody offers the wrong point of view over something that is not his personal business, and things then get nasty. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/mad.gif Malitude is been upfront all along, and he has been flamed for doing this. This is wrong. When LV throws his 2 cents in, that tells me enough is enough. If you can't say something nice, shut up. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/scholar.gif BTW LESLIE, UNLESS YOU CHANGE YOUR NAME TO CASEY, PLEASE TURN OFF YOUR CAP LOCK. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/wink.gif |

Re: '69 X77 302DZ Camaro Barn Find
I really like this car. The blue interior is one of my favorites and appears to be in great shape considering. I prefer cowl hoods to the flat however that is quite an awesome find. I would however have concerns of how big of a project were actually talking here. The gas tank fell out due to the straps disolving. That is pretty serious rust!!! I somehow question that the cancer eating this car stopped at the gas tank. More pic's please underneath and how about a shot of the cowl tag next time the hood is up. Great car I'm sure it will sell.... less than 60k jmho.

Re: '69 X77 302DZ Camaro Barn Find
Just the driver's side fuel tank strap is broken. The strap is solid except the area where it broke. When I looked at the car, because all 4 tires were flat, it gave the illusion that both were broken. Not the case here, only one was. If your interested in purchasing the car post in the "For Sale" section, email me or give me a call. I guess people don't see Or Best Offer in the price. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif
