Well next time you do that, we'll have to get Mom to shoot a little clear on top of that color. Then you'll be purdy for a looong time. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif

Joe, what brand are you using for water?
How are they for old formulas in water? I am having trouble getting Cortez Silver in water from PPG. |

I did a spray out with chromapremier and they scanned it. That orange sure is bright! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif Joe |

Here I am thinking this is a perfect picture of a big block core suport from the front.

Re: 1969 -- paint code delete hugger orange nova
Well... if you look at pics of most cars that sit in that area, the calendar is turned to my favorite, Latisha. Mitch, the kid who has hung around the shop since he was about 12, and is now in auto body school, and aprenticing at Arnold's where Joe works, has to mess with me by changing the calendar to the lighter skinned girl, and changing my oldies radio station.
Maybe it has something to do with the first time I met his girl friend I mentioned that she looked nothing like Latoya who he had there the night before. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smirk.gif And, I guess I'm old school in that a body shop, or welding shop really isn't complete without a girley calendar. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif And yes, that is the original BB radiator support. It does have a small wrinkle that needs massageing |

looking great Alan. Nice work Joe. Just be careful not to drive that beauty in the rain https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif. I remember getting my water color pics wet when I was a kid and that really ticked me off. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/mad.gif

No, it's the original SS hood. The holes are taped on the backside to prevent blowthrough overspray.

Re: 1969 -- paint code delete hugger orange nova
WOW! And that is waterbased paint? The base, I mean.
|
Re: 1969 -- paint code delete hugger orange nova
Yes the basecoat is reduced with water. The rest of the system is still petro based. I asked alot of questions on what clear to use and sikkens superior 250 is a knock out! The shine is incredible and very scratch resistant.
Jed just come up and see it first hand at the heartland nova reunion in june. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif Joe |

[ QUOTE ] Funny car guys use water based paint because it ends up being lighter, due to no primer/sealer needed I believe? [/ QUOTE ] I posed this question to my reps. He spent 1/2 a day weighing toner from both water and petro systems and there are to many variables to conclude which one weighs less. As far as benefits, I believe some time in the near future most if not all shops will by law have to use water based product. Where we are located my boss chose to switch due to air quality permits. I've been spraying water for almost a year and it works and looks great. I don't see any down side to using it. Joe [/ QUOTE ] I ran across this while reading some drag racing stuff: "Jerry Sievers Paint -N- Place says he saves approximately 1/3 of weight on his funny cars painting for the pros (John Force, Del Worsham, etc.), by using water based paint and decals – lighter colors (white) without pigment are the lightest." |
