Hey, I give him credit for what he does with that car. Original drive train and he is not afraid to spin the tires hard. I believe he even drives it to church with the family on occasion! I give all those original drive train people credit for running them at the SCR. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ouguysrock.gif

Re: small block nationals

It's all about the 'fun factor', and for me there is no better 'high' than racing down the 1320. Part of the thrill is knowing that I'm in a real Yenko. I don't think I'd have the same feeling in a clone or a wanna-be car.

One of the keys to the Nova Nationals this year was to maintain the car count. These are tough times for car shows, and without a consistent car count the show can die - and we don't want that!! The NNN club has been going strong for 25 years, and that's pretty amazing considering the life expectancy for the average car club. The car count is important for the show, but there has to be something intangible behind the car count that keeps the club together - and NNN (and the sYc) has it!

Re: small block nationals

That "intangible" is Wayne and Shirley Bushey and the many loyal members of the club. The cars are nothing without good people to go with them. All clubs and groups are only as good as the folks involved. NNN and the SYC are fortunate to have a lot of great members who give a lot back to the hobby. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/scholar.gif

Can't argue that!! It's a long list of dedicated people behind the club that make it what it is. Just read the NNN Hall of Fame list, with the newest inductee John Piccola from Las Vegas, NV. Also, there are many active chapters that keep the small groups going strong, like the Indy chapter that I belong too - we host the Nationals next year, possibly looking at a riverboat hotel/casino location in Belterra, IN https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

Marlin,
Thanks for posting the vintage picture of my "deer slayer" Nova. The original owner's wife tagged a deer with it around '72 in Iowa.

Belterra?!? That's a half hour from here........ sweet!

I knew it was in your backyard - so you and your nova's attendance is mandatory https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif

PS: Bring my original owner along with you, since he's only minutes away too https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif
