Re: Chicago area dealer cars
https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/haha.gif I don't know. I think my car was the only Z/28 they sold. How far west is still considered Chicagoland? Indeed mine could use some track time...

Re: Chicago area dealer cars
Anyone ever heard of Egizio (sp) Chevrolet in Naperville? My brother took delivery of their first 1970 Z28. Daytona yellow bought it right of the showroom floor. Still remember it like yesterday. Think that was the start of my sickness!!

Re: Chicago area dealer cars
I removed some front Bucket seats & a Tilt Steering Column out of a Monte Carlo I found at Victory Auto Wreckers in 1981.I found a buildsheet showing:
Egizio Chevrolet Oldsmobile P.O. BOX 240 NAPERVILLE IL 60540 Dealer 11 Zone 181 I know they are no longer in Business today. I think they became Horizon Chevrolet on 1540 W. Ogden. |

Shoppers World !! So who has Chicago cars ?? [/ QUOTE ] My 70 Chevelle came from Yarnall Todd Chevrolet in Wheeling, now Bill Stasek Chevrolet. I used to own an LS6 that came from Quality Chevrolet. If I still owned it I would beg Frank for the dealer sticker he has. I used to own an L78 Camaro that came from McInerney Chevrolet. |

I looked at a used butternut yellow 69 SS396 Chevelle on the lot there when I was in high school. |
Re: Chicago area dealer cars
I just found this:
Angelo J. Egizio, who operated Egizio Chevrolet-Oldsmobile in Naperville from 1957 to 1981, died Nov. 14. He was 81. Egizio flew on 65 missions for the Army Air Corps in World War II and on 85 missions for the Air Force in the Korean War. He participated in the Battle of the Bulge, the final German offensive in the west, in late 1944, and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, among other medals. Egizio is survived by his wife, Mary; daughters Toni, Phyllis, Jaime and Mary; sons Michael, James, Owen and Rocco; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A son-in-law, Roland Gartner, owns Gartner Buick-Saab-Hyundai in Naperville Roland Gartner * https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif |

Re: Chicago area dealer cars
Thanks for all the Egizio info, I grew up down the street from their home and was good friends with Owen they are a nice family. Mr. Egizio at one time had a Corvette for every year and when a new one came out he would put it away, believe they were all upstairs at the dealership. I wonder what happened to all them cars, most had little or no miles on them.
I also have the paper work from my brothers Z28 wonder if it's still around also, it was traded in at a dealership further down Ogden Ave. in Downers Grove don't remember the name off hand. |
Re: Chicago area dealer cars
And don't forget our Showcase at the next April 1 & 2, 2006 Chevy Vettefest at McCormick Place in Chicago. Along with some beautiful Supercars, we will be featuring the cars of Nickey Chevrolet along with a fantastic collection of Nickey memorabilia from the collection of Tom Stephani.
Tom S. will also be breaking out the historic Nickey Vinegaroon USRRC/Can Am Race Car! Can't wait! For more info or to be a part of this special collection, get a hold of Tom Clarey! |
Re: Chicago area dealer cars
Jack the dealer in Downers is in a post a couple above yours!

Apparently a barn/garage/something filled with a new vette from every year. Could be the same person? |
Re: Chicago area dealer cars
does anyone remember going into the Nickey parts dept? They use to have that gold 64 Chevelle 300 427 parked outside the door.
|
Re: Chicago area dealer cars
That area outside the parts dept was a good place to show off the latast conversions......you had to walk thru the service area to get into the parts dept and on weekends that was a good area to show off what was new......I vaguely remember the 64.....but remember, that was an "Old" car at the time and we were interested in the new stuff...As I remember the 64 had gold rims and blackwalls
Just thinking........Wouldn't it be neat (but stupid from a business perspective) to recreate the Nickey Business as it was and have it as a strictly Vintage Muscle Car Sales and Restoration business......Maybe if I had Charley's money.....LOL https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/haha.gif Ken https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/flag.gif |
Re: Chicago area dealer cars
Or Stefano's clout and money........

Re: Chicago area dealer cars
Stefano's clout alone would be enough to make that a reality.

Re: Chicago area dealer cars
Fall Vettefest was the best one in a long time...can't wait until Spring Showcase
|
Re: Chicago area dealer cars
I'd love to bring my Z Frank '67 Corvette to the Vettefest for the Triple Crown in fall of 2006.

Ken, It is the "stupid" ones who make all the others look really smart https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/tongue.gif I have spoken to many people who were at Nickey or a part of Nickey Legacy, from back in the day who plan to spend time at the SYC display sharing info and stories with any and all members and enthusiasts. Stay tuned for more details. |

[/ QUOTE ] Stefano My point being..........Like the painting being sold with all the Muscle Cars in front of the Nickey Dealership.......If I or you had unlimited funds to rebuild what was once there and turn it into the "Ultimate" Muscle car Sales and High End Restoration business would be the "Ultimate" on the Cool scale.........But, my point was that the cost of getting to that point could probably not be supported fiscally by the profits that would be available.......The idea isn't stupid, but the Business Plan would have to make sense to a Banker (that's the hard part) Ken https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/flag.gif |

So, do you know any "Stupid" Bankers? With all your first hand experience we expect you to be right in the thick of things. See you there!
