68 L89 Camaro with 28,000 miles on it. Needs complete restoration. Have known all owners of this car since 1972 - I even owned it for 3 months in 1980. Sold it to a friend, who still has it and has put maybe 100 miles on it in 25 years.

I also know of a 68 Olds Cutlass which was an original Ram Rod 350 car. It has 6,000 original miles and when I last saw it (probably 15 or 20 years ago) it was in very good original condition. It is not in very good storage conditions, so I have no idea what kind of shape it's in now. Original motor is long gone, as the car was drag raced in the late 60's and early 70's with a BBC. Although several people have tried very hard, the car cannot be bought https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/frown.gif

No, this one never sat outside. However, there is a green 1970 SS Chevelle sitting about 50 feet off the road with a tree or two growing in or around it on "Conway-Wallrose Road" in western PA. I first saw it in 1978, and at that time it was NICE . I saw it again last summer...it is not so nice now. And yes, everyone I know that has seen it over the last 27 years has tried to buy it although it may not be worth much now.

[/ QUOTE ]Barnfind, The original owner of my yenko chevelle said that he thinks that green 70 ss car is an ls6! The story is the kid died in vietnam and they threw a tarp over the car and it has not moved since! He says people have tried to buy it and they will not sell it,He said the thing is totally rotted. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/frown.gif

Re: undiscovered cars

This is by no means a supercar, but it will get my point across. 10-15 mi. from here there's a '71 malibu sinking into the ground, the kid was killed and his mother wouldn't sell. It is her son's car and that's that. My point is that if her son loved his car like we all seem to, how is letting it rot paying homage to his memory? Love and respect his memory by letting the car he loved make someone else happy and survive.

Re: undiscovered cars

Some people have a hard time parting with objects whether it's a car or a book. I am part of that group. There have been some recent TV shows on this subject. I'm not as bad as those people profiled on TV but I fit the pattern. I have a lot of junk and eventual plans for it but for now it all sits.

Last summer my wife and I went through our shed, pulled out boxes of toys and clothes that our kids, ages 2 and 5 at the time, outgrew. We sold a lot of these items at a yard sale. It was hard to see the stuff go. We did keep some special items. Seeing strangers walking away with our kids' clothes and toys wasn't easy for us. I could remember certain events just by looking at the items. Birthdays, going to school, seeing the big smiles and hearing the paper tearing off things on Christmas Day, tucking them in at night in these PJs that I just sold for 50 cents........... I could go on.

The point is that we do not know the families that own these cars. We may never know the memories attached to them.

One can almost assume the frustration we have by not being able to get these "Not For Sale" Cars may actually be twice as frustrating to the owner who can not or does not know how to let go. does anyone have a direct line to Doctor Phil?? he would be great to drag along on some of these seek and find missions!

Re: undiscovered cars

My Chevelle has been in storage for the past seventeen years. Sometimes kept at my parent's house or at my house. Last summer, I took it out of the garage and took this picture of it. It is started once a month. I purchased the car in 1988 from the second owner and he had it in storage since 1981! Through the years, numerous people have knocked on my front door and have offered me money for my car. Last summer. I ran into a childhood friend who I hadn't seen since high school. He began telling me that there was a 1972 Chevelle Super Sport in a garage on a certain block in our neighborhood and that he's going to knock on the door to see if he can buy it. The car that he was speaking about was mine. I never thought that my Chevelle would have been in storage for this long. Having relationships, getting married, kids and overall no time for anything caused this. My three year old son recently discovered what is in the garage, so it is time to finish the car. He loves the Chevelle. I would like to think that it will be his car someday. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/flag.gif

Let's be honest all us collectors are a little nutty. The ones that let the cars sit outside are just nuttier than those of us who let them sit in the garage. At least we aren't those people that have 50 cats in the house.

For some reason people are more in awe of such things then the ones that they see every weekend at the local cruise or show. The Mystique.

I've owned my Maco for almost 8 years now and sometimes it sits for years in the garage (work or different focus). I hear stories about it every now then, sit & listen and then finally say... "That's my car".

There is a guy not far from where I live who has a -64 galaxie. The story about the car is that it was used as a "roadrace" track car in itīs early years, with a glassfibre frontend. Itīs got a 427 tag and thin framerails. Many parts are missing.

Re: undiscovered cars

I have a friend (70 yrs old) that has some great cars. They have been sitting(inside)for 20-30 years. He says he's going to get to them one day. The funny thing is that if he didn't work on them when he was 50 or 60 what are the chances that he will work on them at 70?? One day he said to me "I've read stories about old guys that have cars that they will never sell, I guess I'm one of those guys". The bad part is that when he's gone somebody that doesn't care at all about the cars will decide what happens to them.

This is a great thread! I had a guy call me a few months back. He saw the article about my Baldwin-Motion Vega in a magazine and contacted me through my business. He says he has a B-M 427 Impala now I'm just trying tosee it and then reach a deal on the car.

I am also one of those owners who say they are gonna finish it someday. I have a 1967 Chevelle SS 396, I am the second owner I bought it when I was 16.

In 1980 I took it apart to do a frame off. I moved to CA and the car has been stored at my place in AZ since 1980!

I'll get to it someday.

Jerry..By now we all want to buy that car. Alot of people here will pay handsomely for that car. Based on where you said it was there are probably already people scouring the neighborhood trying to find it. I know I will pay more than a brand new Mustang for it.

Jerry how can the car be a Baldwin Motion car if it was bought new in PA? Did the orig owner send the car after purchasing it to Motion?

Stocker did some strange things, and was into the performance cars, but it would seem a little strange for them to sell a motion car new - slightly used maybe, but new? Maybe you can contact the owner and have him fill in some of the blanks, could very well have been taken to State College by a very lucky Penn State student!

The street this sits on had in 1979: three 1970 SS Chevelles, a 1970 Z28 and I believe a 2nd Gen B-M Camaro (70-73) in one 3 mile stretch.

I can only say what I remember from 1979-80 when it looked like it had just been pulled out of the garage (shiny paint, caps and rings on the wheels) I think it is a 396 car. I never looked in the car to see auto/4sp and when I was in PA last week I only got the 3 pics you see before some one yelled out the door to get the /&?% out of there before they called the POLICE. Having said that, it is on Conway-Wallrose Rd in Economy PA, anyone living near there is welcome to try their luck. I may be back in PA in a few months and give it another try.
