This is happening so fast!

Dew, did the person who sold you the Nova knew what it was?

Fun process to actually buy a COPO. My Father raced a 69 Camaro COPO body in 1975. No one knew what a COPO was, until it was sold years later when the new owner called back to tell us it was special. Car only had the BE rear in it. I have the Muncie from it Nov 69 Car. My brother had the carb from the 427, date code matched trans. Eng was long gone, raced with sbc. |
Found good history.

You say it was a copo but it was a l78 auto car and not 427 m22? Harrell put the 427 in it, correct?

Gotcha. Harrell put in 427 and not m22.
|
What makes it more unique and valuable is if Harrell put the 4 speed in and not the original owner or next owners. It would be great if you had proof that Harrell did it and not just the 427.

Good to see the Super Sport medallions were with the Nova, since 68 was the only year for those.

Good to hear Dew.
And there is another 427 Nova scheduled to be at MCACN this year too. This recent post topic from the events organizer. https://www.yenko.net/forum/showthread.php?t=182951 The return of the Yenko 427 Nova that you saw in our Barn Finds & Hidden Gems area a few years ago,now restored to as delivered when new for a Premier Unveiling Saturday morning. |

Seems like this is getting pretty long. Shouldn't the posts about this car be in a thread of its own instead of added to the original thread? Maybe Steve or someone could separate this from the original thread and make a new one just for this car.
|
I think if Steve agreed, it would be possible to copy the thread and then delete the earlier comments and edit the title. Steve if you want to do that and want some help let me know.

its best restored by someone with deep pockets to do it right.

What sandblaster do you guys use?
|
Peanut gallery here, but if you are interested to test the market reaction on the car, maybe one of the guys on here like Dykstra or Steve could put you in touch with Ashton to get the car into the barn find section.
If it's possible, it goes without saying if you spent any money now it would be to buy back original parts to the car if they are known. |
I had this car in my files as a KNOWN car. Had it always had the X in the "known" section on the first page of the site? Either way, it's great that it's now getting the opportunity to be seen and dissected. I noticed in one of the OPs original posts that he thought going all the way back to stock would be the direction to go. I would disagree. Whatever its first race appearance attire should be the direction to take it. Again, great car and congrats!

its not an original bv rear you have as youve said earlier. an original rear for your nova with those needed dates would be really hard to find. the ring and pinion is the easiest part to find in your needed date range.
|
its not an original bv rear you have as youve said earlier. an original rear for your nova with those needed dates would be really hard to find. if you do the car corect itll be 75,000-100,000 to restore it and you might ger $150,000 because its a harrell 427 nova
|
Should be the same BV rear as a Camaro, which I would guess you can find fairly readily. Super cool car.

We had a BE rear axle, found in a 72 Nova. Sold that to a COPO guy, years back. |

Still trying to get a straight answer if there is a deal on the car.
