Spot Welder
I have seen those Mitch. Ive considered it but I like being able to clamp panels together with vise grips and do the plug welds. The ones GM used were strong enough to basically act vise grips. Over the years ive become proficent at getting my plug welds to look like spots. Doesnt always work, and when it doesnt i grind and then go back and create dimple that looks like a spot. Ive also noticed unless you buy a professional large unit they wont create the large deformed dimples along the bottom and up the back of the rockers the factory did.

SMS Seat Covers
1 Attachment(s)
SMS actually got me my headliner a few weeks back. The seat covers finally arrived this week. I had been hearing from others about long lead teams but my experience was only a few months. Door panels are yet to arrive. Im really happy they included head reast covers as well. Not something I have seen with PUI or Legendary.

Spindle and Brake factory marks
6 Attachment(s)
The calipers had some very light traces of factory paint marks on only one side. I also found some torque marks near the brake lines.
The spindles were fun because they have all kinds of different colors and neither side matches the other. On one spindle there is black and blue, while the other side is cream, blue and violet |
Rear End Marks
7 Attachment(s)
Axle Yoke had some blue on the side with some cream/white for the main nut
Rear cover appeared to have an X marked Rear end itself has some yellow on the drivers side and white stripe ont he passenger by the stamping. Also another X on the top of the center section Brake lines only had some orange on one line |
Axles
1 Attachment(s)
The axles sadly are trashed as the bearing surfaces are flaking. That being said still found some yellow marks on both axles beneath the brake dust.

Brake Line Clips
2 Attachment(s)
Ive seen other cars that utilize p clips and bolts for the brake line. My car actually had the older style clips. They still had some mustard color under the brake line but were mostly rust. Still very good shape and cleaned up nicely. I also noted the assembly manual showes p clips and bolts.
|
Those 3 clips are from that frame ? Did u restore them already and if so how? Your frame looks like it will clean up real good.

Yenko Chevelle? Do tell!! Ryan W31 |
I believe the cream white that you found on the pinion washer is thread sealer, not paint. Thread sealer is used to seal the pinion splines so gear oil doesn't leak out through them.

This too with a rear mounted antenna, but Passenger door mirror gone?
From mrays~I believe this is the car Ron Norman had.Legendary had it on their website around 2013/14..It was listed as a numbers matching automatic car. This is the only Butternut Yellow with black vinyl top and automatic transmission Yenko I know of. |
Ron Norman Vs John Berlage
Dad knew Ron and talked to him frequently. Rons car was similar to my dad, but they were in fact 2 different cars. I think Dad till keeps in touch with Ron but as many know he sold his Yenko years ago.
|
Thanks for clearing that up,and there is more than 1 like this.
|
Care to share what paint you used for those clips?

I checked out the one Butternut Yellow Black VT Yenko at Legendary several years ago. Ryan W31 |
The yellow Yenko Chevelle that Legendary had was one of my old cars. I purchased it from Vince and after I sold it the next owner he then located the original motor, rear and trans. When I told Vince he found them he responded with yea I knew they were there but the motor was 60 over so I didn't tell you about it. I thought oh shit. I found the Yellow Yenko John now has in North Carolina and when advertised it was a complete car. It was in Hemmings sometime in the early 80s after which Carl Dwiggens acquired it, then Dick Bridges then Randy Miller to me and finally John purchased the car and did his usual outstanding restoration on it.

Brake Drum Boring
2 Attachment(s)
I only had one orignal brake drum, but cleaned it up and bored it out. I see they now sell some non finned new replacement drums. I may have to just get one.

Axles and other bits
3 Attachment(s)
Most times im real neat with the paint marks but the axles clearly showed the paint dripped all over so this was kinda fun to do.

Brake Caliper Rebuild
3 Attachment(s)
I struggled to find much for paint marks on these but this is how i ended up finishing them. Some new seals and reassemble. I thought i had a tool for installed the dust boots but I didnt so i quickly made a driver disc for assembling.

What type of product are you using for your blasting and what are you prepping the blasted surface with before painting ? Thanks

Frame Blasting and First Prime

Ocassionally i will use a 2k high build primer but I will only get into that with easily sanded surfaces and heavier pitting. This car will not require and 2k as im already finding a single sand is elimating all pits if they even exist. |

that is a thankless job right there!

AND takes all day with a pot blaster. I see you sweep it up and screen it back in the pot too. Been there, done that, but only once. Now I farm that out. Getting more difficult to find places that blast anymore though.
Your media looks like black diamond, coal slag. I do use that on frames but use the white play sand for other things. |
12 Bolt 4 Series Carrier for the 4.56
1 Attachment(s)
Well Scratch my earlier question on this. Just as an update. I decided it would compliment the L89 to go with a set of 4.56 grears when i get to assembling the rear end. Managed to find a real nice guy on facebook that sent me a carrier that had some damage in the pinion shaft area. Sent me a second housing.
Its nice to see some folks out there have some high levels of integrety in spite of what you see in the news or online. |
