Go get the car.
My thought exactly. If he is active on a few sites, he knows to contact you.
James is a good guy, hope you get it sorted out.
Isn't 73RSLTZ James' brother? Anybody have his # or contact info? I sent him a PM asking about James' welfare but I'm not sure if he's been around the site lately either. Here's a link to one of his threads:

I would take a trailer and drive down, maybe there are some issues. If there are bring it home.
Any updates in this that can be shared? I always enjoyed James' posts and was really surprised to hear he went dark.
Hope it works out for everyone involved. |
Nothing to report yet - making progress getting the car home .
hope it works out soon for you - gut wrenching going thru this - not knowing.
Still can't get over how strange this is - really hope everything works out for you.
I connected with James yesterday afternoon (via text), he's run into some misfortune and some personal challenges however he's around and rebounding. I didn't enquire about the car as it's not my place to do so however importantly James is OK.
Good news - thanks for sharing. Hope Bergy can work things out.
Car is back in my building - now the work begins.
Nice, now get going on it!

After 2 1/2 years, the car has to come totally apart. Gaps, workmanship, assembly, paint - have to be redone. I certainly don't wish James any ill will. Like many of you, I've admired his attention to small details over the years, He's also a very pleasant guy to talk to. Based on this experience, however, he hasn't demonstrated the ability to accomplish a full restoration. The car was never pre-assembled (to assure body gap fit) before finish painting and final assembly. enough said.
I've had over 25 cars restored by 5 different shops over the past 30 years. I've never even had a cross word of disagreement with the restorers, and the results have been superb. This is the first bad experience that I've had. So, I feel blessed. I went with James for this restoration because my regular Camaro restorer was booked out 3 years at the time. Big mistake. I'll go ahead and get the car in to a reputable shop. It's a car worth doing right, and it will be beautiful when finished :-) |
Sorry to hear that - painful I'm sure, and to have to start back over is even more painful.
Best of luck - hope you can get in at one of your regulars and get it done asap. |
