Are they cast iron or aluminum? My thoughts if there cast iron paint them if there aluminum leave them natural.

big gear head 12-27-2018 02:55 PM

I would not paint them. They look like the old L88 heads. If they were the modern heads with the machined ends then I would probably paint them. I don't like the look of the modern heads, but I do like the old aluminum heads.

VCs look nice ( I am a bit partial to M/Ts myself ;>)) ). Those t-handles are newer ones. If you go t-handle route, there are lots available on line (ebay) in original packaging quite cheap from Mr. Gasket, M/T, Cal Custom, and other brands of the day. Notice vintage wire looms - they are also available on ebay.

T handles or standard bolts for the valve covers??

Neither, I like the wing bolts better. Those t handles are really a later 70's trend.

whitetop 12-27-2018 09:08 PM

Love the 7mm wires.

Made a lot of progress to get ready for the Detroit Autorama coming up on March 1st-3rd. Motor and engine bay is done. Keeping the HEI and Plug wires right now due to time and money. I really like the look and have a black and red theme going with everything

Thank you! It took some time to find a pair that wasn't unilug

cwc 01-31-2019 02:31 AM

I would have to put the intake heater hose where it belongs, its distracting where it is.

????

mockingbird812 01-31-2019 02:28 PM

JP, I believe what cwc is referring to is that your heater hose return line should be entering the intake manifold where your water temp sensor is. Water temp sensor should be using an opening mid way down your driver's side head.

big gear head 01-31-2019 02:34 PM

'67 didn't have the temp sender in the head. That didn't start until '68. Temp sender and heater hose need to swap positions.

Thanks Freddie!

Can't wait to see it at Autorama! Wish I'd known you were looking for chrome slots! I have a set in the garage.

Thank you! I am really excited for it too! Make sure you pop by and say hi. I test fitted the mag this weekend after polishing them and they fit and look great! Getting them mounted up this week.

JpMotorsports 02-04-2019 03:03 PM

JRC99 I will be looking for a set of chrome slot mags for the rear 15x8 if you have any that match or know of anyone.

JRC99 02-04-2019 08:15 PM

Sadly mine are 15x8. Don't have any buddies with wheels at all.

scuncio 02-05-2019 01:15 AM

Those chrome slots are killer! I’ll keep a look out for you at Autorama.

We are all most ready for the Detroit Autorama March 1st thru 3rd. Dropped the car off to my buddies shop (who has a hoist) to install new rear lower control arms and sway bar. Cant wait for spring and to drive this thing. One question I have for those running the Mr. Gasket style winged valve cover studs. Can you lock tite the wings in place???

JRC99 02-25-2019 11:00 PM

I'll be there on Friday. Can't wait to see it!

cook_dw 02-27-2019 05:30 PM

Cars looking good.

Hrdlx62 03-01-2019 12:36 AM

Nice looking 67, I had one in the past not an SS tho. One of the best years for sure. How bout some weatherstrip adhesive for those wing nuts? Pretty secure but relatively easy to undo. Again nice car love the steel slots.

scuncio 03-02-2019 11:58 PM

Nice to meet you today. Let’s get together when the weather breaks!

We had a blast this past weekend at the Detroit Autorama! Our car club had 5 cars in our group and 3 out of the 5 placed in their classes. It was a lot of work but the payoff was second to none!

cook_dw 03-04-2019 04:36 PM

congrats.

olredalert 03-04-2019 06:56 PM

----Saw your car but there was no one around right then. It's apparent the amount of work you have put in since I met you at Stahls with Ryan on the cruise night. Good job!......Bill S

Looks like you guys had a good time. Thanks for the pics including the cold one during load up. It was minus 20 when we loaded up on the 24th when our show ended in Calgary.

Your hard work has paid off as the car is looking great!

Thank you so much! Its was cold and extremely windy when we left and loaded up. Cold metal clamps and hooks are a pain to hold when strapping down a car!

Congrats. Beautiful Chevelle! Couldn't help but notice the club name. "Twisted Axle". Any chance you're a relatively new club?

Not too sure. Its not that old but I also just joined less than a year ago. They have a facebook page. There are other chapters in other states and countries.

It wasn't what I was thinking then if they have chapters.

Needed to put in new lights cause ours were old and 2 were burnt out so I upgraded and since I seen a lot of Day 2 cars with high and low beam lamps have colored high beams either yellow or blue or ect and I thought why not go red (most likely not legal but we can remove the paint) So we went with Krylon cranberry red stained glass paint. Took 15 coats to get the right shade of red and walla!

JpMotorsports 03-25-2019 03:36 PM

Did not turn on the high beams in the pic wont use them on the street but will take a pic with them in sitting in the dark. Wonder how red or pink they will look lit up.
