Do you have any pics of the shifter body looking straight up?

Any stripes visible on the driveshaft?

Charley Lillard 07-28-2017 02:18 PM

Shifter is a Hurst. Did not see any stripes but will look closer when I get it back on the lift.

tunes 07-28-2017 02:41 PM

Great pictures and such a cool car.

HawkX66 07-28-2017 02:48 PM

Those steam cleaners do a beautiful job. I'm looking forward to see where you go with this one. Very sharp. For a '68 anyhow... ;-)

Thank you!

Stripes will probably be one white and one orange - if visible.

Great car Charlie and as you stated it needs to be saved. Are the 4 trans bolts to bellhousing zinc or phosphate? Know you stated the fuel pump was in trunk but if fuel pump plate was still on that LOS Camaro was it painted or natural?
That color will be killer and what a great car to have done for its 50th Anniversary at the 2018 MCACN. :)

Charley Lillard 07-28-2017 11:40 PM

Trans bolts look Phosphate, Can't tell on fuel pump plate yet but engine has been rebuilt.

MosportGreen66 07-29-2017 11:08 AM

Wow, very cool car! Thanks for sharing and congrats for stepping up and making the purchase.

GM 516 = WE5108. 516 is also 546 (for 1968)

Charley Lillard 07-31-2017 04:08 AM

That's not orig. paint. The orig. color is shown underneath where it is flaking off.

NorCam 07-31-2017 01:30 PM

Current color is a dead on match to your Kubota.

I do like that original color as seen in the door jambs. What are you plans for this car Charlie. Repaint in original Lacquer and further clean up of the rest?

And its a LOS 68Z, correct? Have several examples where NOR had it black but none from LOS plant.
thank you,

JoeC 08-02-2017 04:31 PM

Nice find,
Does it have an old Hurst shifter?
The Hurst shifter that was sold in 67 68 is different then the one that went in production in 69-70 and later. I have seen them on some survivor type day two Camaros but they are hard to find

Charley Lillard 08-02-2017 07:58 PM

It is at least 30 years old. I can try to get pics.

Charley Lillard 08-02-2017 07:59 PM

Love the video!! Very cool!!

scuncio 08-02-2017 09:48 PM

That is the newer style shifter. I will post a pic of the early one on my L78.

Lynn 08-02-2017 11:10 PM

You did fill out an environmental impact statement in triplicate before undertaking the steam clean, right? And then another one when you repaired the fuel line?

Charley Lillard 08-02-2017 11:47 PM

Yes

Xplantdad 08-03-2017 01:06 AM

Nice burnout...

1967Z28 08-03-2017 01:45 AM

I think that's still an early '70s Hurst based on the direction the two bolts go through to hold on the stick.
