Re: Canuck and Edgemont Villages new Shop
Once the floor was back filled Lloyd and MEJ did a run to HD and bought 32 bags of Concrete mix to fill the void:
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...pswfw0lljv.jpg Transparently 32 bags was not enough so work was halted before the drain area could be filled in: http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...pskaxpzec9.jpg 5 bags later we had a level floor: http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...psnl65idei.jpg |
Re: Canuck and Edgemont Villages new Shop
Next up was the framing of the wall for the shower and toilet area, the remainder will be the wetroom for stainless sinks, parts washer and beer fridge (wet room has multiple meanings):

Sam
My wife knows that for years I have said all I need for accommodation is a 6 car garage and a hot plate. I also own an Airstram trailer and have toyed with storing it on the back lot...... couldt think of a better plan! Speaking of Dogs, I brought our Pug to the shop last Saturday, he is very curious and likes to hang around people even when they are busy working. lloyd was doing some electrical and Percy provided some job site security! http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...pstsv7a3ja.jpg |

Re: Canuck and Edgemont Villages new Shop
while we are in the process of finishing off the plumbing and the wetroom with nothing exciting to show, i thought I would share some photos of our shop equipment, some of which we had and more are recent acquisitions.
First or paint booth, we stripped off the old filters to the updraft area and vacuumed out the old debris, consisting of sawdust, sand and paint layers spanning 20+ years: http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...pscm1am1sc.jpg http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...psaodrbgua.jpg Ground down the old metal to get a smooth surface: http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...psnm4iuzsb.jpg And reinstalled the filters, the place came with a large box of these that should last a few years: http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...psb1buvjfi.jpg Paul |
Re: Canuck and Edgemont Villages new Shop
here is a bad ass table we bought at a bankrupt garage auction in February, we send it out to have it sandblaster and powder coated:
We added casters and two intermediate shelves, it weighs 400 lbs and steers like the Queen Mary. http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...psssdafnj4.jpg Columbia 604 vice bolted in, wheeling it over to the drill press was a challenge: http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...psa3g5hsyo.jpg http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...pstzc4rcrt.jpg |

Re: Canuck and Edgemont Villages new Shop
Progress continues on the shop albeit at a modest pace, Paul is working on buttoning up and pressure testing the labyrinth of plumbing and air lines in the bathroom & wet room before we can move on to insulation/vapor barrier then drywall during the holiday break. Electrical in almost complete in this area however light switch relocation, exhaust fan testing and provisioning for a smoke detector are still on the list. I have been chipping away at some of the framing tasks; still to do is a closet for the wet room/bathroom plumbing and elimination of a hallway door opening. With limited time available on the weekend I built an 11' bulkhead in the main front office to warehouse hallway to contain some unsightly conduit and exposed low voltage wiring prior to drywall.

Re: Canuck and Edgemont Villages new Shop
Since when is conduit unsightly? Nice work Lloyd!

Whenever Lloyd says its unsightly! It was ugly under there. |
Re: Canuck and Edgemont Villages new Shop
In my case, rightly or not, I have gone out of my way to expose conduit, gas pipes, air lines, etc.

Sam
The area Lloyd boxed in was a mess of Security and telco wiring with some new conduit. In other areas of the shop we have a combo of exposed pipes and semi hidden that I will post photos on later this week now that out wet room is complete. Paul |

Re: Canuck and Edgemont Villages new Shop
Ahead of the holiday break Paul and I embarked on the arduous and unpleasant job of insulating and installing vapor barrier in the Wet Room and Bathroom in preparation for drywall. Snow and freezing temperatures are becoming increasingly rare where we live and in fact until December 2016 we hadn't seen a snowfall in over 1,000 days. When we do experience snow its a couple of inches and gone in a day or two. Well this year has been different, cold temperatures have persisted and several inches of snow has accumulated. Soooo returning from an HD run with fresh supplies, while backing down the warehouse driveway Paul mis-navigated just a smig, dropped a rear wheel over an 18" drainage ledge and shunted the Yukon into our recently renovated, minty fresh corrugated steel clad wall... What immediately followed was a gathering of neighbours who came to our aid. One brought 2 bags of salt...OK...thanks...another towed the Yukon out and off the ledge with his 5 Ton cube van to safety. Worked like a charm. The final result was a damaged wall panel and end cap that will be replaced in the spring with the Yukon taking the brunt.
Impact - Oh sh*& http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/...psydvnkloc.jpg First Responder with Salt provisions. You can always count on a business partner to be there when you need him..... with a camera and commentary!
That dent BTW, not including tail lamp, repair estimate $1700.00 The building not so much! |

"NEWFIE CHROME" only you can use that slang:-)

Newfie's like myself refer to that a Duct Tape, personally I only own one roll as I seldom have need for it. Lloyd on the other hand owns several rolls in many colors, that particular one was branded by Snap On as he prefers the good stuff. He was very adept at applying it and appeared to have lots of years of experience in its application, that is why I let him have at it. Paul |
