Re: Scheduled to attend SCR19
i'll be there along with some buddies who are also members. i was able to make it last year to saturday only after i heard a "rumor" of some copos and yenkos being out at beech bend...after which i told that person they were out of their minds, that there weren't any kind of cars like that anywhere around this part of ky.
well, thankfully it was one of the many times I've been wrong |
Re: Scheduled to attend SCR19
We are going to try to publicize the event locally a little this year to let the car guy's in the area know we will be there. I know I would be pretty upset if something like this happened near me and I missed it.

Re: Scheduled to attend SCR19
Made it home safe on Saturday night. On the way down, I-71 was shut down in Sparta, KY which put us behind about three hours for the Meet N Greet. Once we arrived, everyone jumped in to help unload my truck so we could get the BBQ rollin! We ate a little late but the food went quick. Thanks for all the nice comments about the food. I was stressin’ when I rolled up and saw all the people ready to eat! We had some leftovers that we were able to heat up at the track for a snack as we waited for the rain to move out.
Had a great time cooking and thanks to everyone that help get me set up. Really shows what these events are all about. My car ran a 12.55 @116 mph. I’ll take it for a rookie driver. I missed a couple of gears and forgot to let go of the line lock on a few passes! All good fun! The banquet was great! Congrats to Dennis Cumby on being recognized as the 2016 honoree. His acceptance speech was all about the people. And Kim Howie got up and told a great story from years past. Had the crowd in tears! BTW Kim, I still have your sign. Send me your address and I will drop it in the mail. Doug Perry did a great job as the MC. It was great seeing folks from around the country and I met a few more! On the way home we hit another accident and 1-I-71 was closed again. As we passed the mangled camper being towed away, I remembered that someone is having a much worse day than me. Thanks again to Tom, Doug and Jamie for letting me be a part of the event. Can’t wait to next year. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...1-img_1584.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...2-img_1583.jpg |
Re: Scheduled to attend SCR19
I just wanted to say how great of a time I had at the reunion! The cars were all very cool but this event is about the friendships. Great to see everyone and a big Thank You to all who took time from busy lives to join us.

Re: Scheduled to attend SCR19
I too want to say thanks to everyone who was involved in making this happen. It was a complete success....Karen and I had a great time.
She's not really in to, all day, car shows so this was the perfect venue. Thursday was the meet and great with great people, great food and a few beverages too. Friday started slow because of the rain but we all made the best of it.....then all hell broke loose when the sun came out! After that, we took the cars to the Corvette Museum for the banquet that happened later in the evening......which had great prizes, well deserved awards to Dennis Cumby and Dru Diesner, great stories from the veterans. Sunday was the car show for a few hours in the Museum......one guy couldn't believe that we actually ran these cars at the drag strip. We also got a discount on the museum tour and food, a win win all around. So, personally, we had a great time and will return next year. Thanks again, Kurt & Karen |
