The paperwork with that car was original and it showed it was originally a 340hp 409 with A/C. A previous owner added the dual quad top end. There were no 425hp 409s built in 1965. And there were no 400hp solid lifter 409s built with A/C. I'm sure you already knew that. It WAS a real '65 409, so Bob decided it belonged it the display. It was a last minute surprise to me but I wasn't able to find a real '61 or '65 that was able to be there.
Your '65 is the only REAL REAL one I knew of but you weren't able to bring it, which I regret.

Good Lord Bruce! The coverage is fantastic (which, from you, is almost 'expected').

So good to see you again. The relaxed time Saturday night in the lobby was very special for me. You are an incredible individual. THANK YOU for sharing a part of your busy life with so many of us.

May God Bless you and your family throughout this Thanksgiving and Christmas Season, and for many, many more.

Verne.. Please don't insinuate that the 65 that was part of the display is no longer a real 409 car. It might not be modified to your liking but it is still a neat and very real 409.

Charley, That's what I meant when I said it WAS a real one, meaning when it was in the show, it was. Same as IS. Sorry for any misunderstanding. The paperwork confirms it was/is a real one.

As has already been said multiple times thank you for the awesome pictures! Almost as good as being there for sure! I would have loved to have been there especially since I really like the super rare stuff like the E body HEMI verts. Unfortunately the have a few too many zeros in their price for me!
Any chance of starting a new thread with just the pics of the Ebody HEMI verts if it isn't too much trouble? If you have pictures of the story boards that go with them it would be also nice to see them as well and read the details.
Thanks again for the awesome coverage and I hope to one day make it to the show from Ontario, Canada. Maybe I can hitch a ride in the back of the Legendary Motorcars trailer, looks like they took several cars to the show.

Per the '65 409, I appreciate that the car came for display and is certainly an original 409 car. I talked to Verne at the show and he was in no way derogatory about the car. However, given the fact that his name is associated with the display and the fact that the signage on that '65 409 is VERY misleading (it really implies that its a numbers matching 425hp car), I wouldn't have blamed him for being defensive about its presentation. Speaking of the 409 display, special thanks to Chris P (SIR VIVOR) for generously taking the time to chat with me about his spectacular 380hp Bel Air while chasing his young child around.

Bruce,
Great pics,as usual. Sorry we didn't get to talk other than passing hellos.
You took some nice pics of the 70's I had in the ballroom as well as the gold car in barn find room. I never seem to get to see much of the cars at the show but your pics help to see what I usually miss due to judging in the Vintage area. So for that I thank you.

Charley, was this car judged? I know Verne didn't really have a chance to look at the car beforehand and pre 65 is his specialty. There are some things with the docs I noticed that are a cause for concern. The signage is a little confusing. One sign states it's a numbers matching 425hp car and the docs state it's a 340HP car. Do you know the history of the car? Wish I could have been there to see it in person.
