Here are a few pictures from the AACA show at the spring Auctions America auction at Auburn IN in 2013. I took a few pictures of some of the antique cars at this show as well. If people are interested in seeing those I can post them. Otherwise I'll stick to the muscle cars.

Re: Musclecar Photographs mrays
What's the scoop with the fire extinguishers? And did you type that correctly on the 69Z hugger with dark green interior? If so, wow.
Keep up the great work!! |
Re: Musclecar Photographs mrays
Apparently at an AACA show fire extinguishers are mandatory for your car to be judged. I just happened to be looking at a car without one and a show official came up to the owner and told him that. I don't know why they need to be displayed by the drivers side front tire, but that's where everybody had them.
Yes, that 69 Z was originally Hugger Orange with a dark green interior according to the trim tag. I believe the auction description mentioned that it was the only known 69 Z in that color combination. It didn't actually look that bad. |

Re: Musclecar Photographs mrays
Here are a couple of cars from the Auctions America auction and AACA show in Auburn IN in May of 2014.
Here is the Zintsmaster 62 Impala SS. It is a numbers matching and documented car with most of it's original paint. It is 1 of 2 known 62 Impala light weight cars. It has been featured in numerous magazines over the years. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...3-img_7800.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...4-img_7801.jpg This 68 Biscayne L72 is a low mileage, mostly original paint car and is documented. Re: Musclecar Photographs mrays
Here are a few photos from the Cavalcade of Wheels in South Bend IN. I'm not a big fan of indoor car shows like this since most of the cars are roped off and have signs and other stuff all around them. That all makes it kind of hard to take a good picture.
G. Elpers' 46 Chevy pickup with a 6.1L Hemi was featured in several magazines. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...-46chevypu.jpg N. Pinto's 40 Ford sedan was a Ridler Great 8 Finalist in 2009. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...5-img_5020.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...6-img_5018.jpg A. Love's 56 210 with an AL 582 putting out close to 1,000hp was also a Ridler Great 8 Finalist. He has since sold it and it is in a private museum locally. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...7-img_5021.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...8-img_5009.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...9-img_5007.jpg A. Love's 55 Bel Air was originally built back in the 80's and featured in several magazines at that time. He then sold it and built several other tri-fives including the above 56. A couple of years ago I saw that it was going to the Auburn fall auction and mentioned that to him when I saw him at a local cruise-in. He went down there and bought the car back. It only had 2 or 3 miles put on it in the 25 years or so since he had sold it. He spend a lot of time cleaning and detailing it and made some upgrades to the suspension and wheels and tires. Other than that the car is exactly how it was when it was built around 30 years ago. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...0-dscn0187.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...1-dscn0231.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...2-dscn0230.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...3-dscn0204.jpg |

R. Ingles' 65 Coronet A990 Lightweigh Hemi S/S is a TorqueFlite car that was bought new at Mr. Norms Grand Spalding Dodge in Chicago IL. Re: Musclecar Photographs mrays
Every August Crossroads Community Church in Goshen IN has a cruise in on a Sunday morning. It seems to grow larger every year. I believe there were 600+ cars there last year. Here are a few cars I've seen there over the last couple of years.
This 70 Nova SS had a 600+ci engine and ran low 8's in street trim. It has since been sold and I believe it is out in MD now. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...70novablue.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...0novablue2.jpg This 69 Dart GT Sport is a factory M code 440 car as is the 69 Cuda 440 below it. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...9-img_1722.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...0-img_1723.jpg This is a 32 Buick 5-window coupe with a big block Chevy for motivation. I don't believe I've ever seen another one of these in any form. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...1-img_2773.jpg F. Marchand's 66 Chevy II has a bolt on front clip and a 355 with a 5 speed. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...2-img_4181.jpg This 70 Chevelle SS has a 604 with EFI and NOS. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...5-img_4182.jpg E. Bessinger's 65 Coronet with a 511 Hemi and a TorqueFlite. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...6-img_5723.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...7-img_5717.jpg Bright Yellow ZR-1 Corvette. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...8-img_7287.jpg A. Every Thursday from May through September the Essenhaus in Middlebury IN has a cruise in. If the weather is nice normally 300 - 400 cars show up. Last year the grand finally event for the year had close to 1,000 cars. Here are a few pictures I've taken there over the years.
Nice 69 Camaro SS with a 502 putting out over 600 hp. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...5-img_4197.jpg This 64 GTO convertible is a numbers matching factory tri-power car with a 4 speed. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...6-img_4387.jpg Nicely detailed 66 Chevelle SS. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...7-img_4392.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...8-img_4393.jpg J. He lived just up the road from my parents house when I was growing up and always had a cool hot rod of some sort around. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...9-img_5022.jpg Nice 71 GTX with a 440 Magnum. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...0-img_5732.jpg Wild twin turbo Lambo that puts out over 900hp. I believe most of the engine work was done by Steve Morris. This thing sounds like a fighter jet at WOT. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...1-img_5733.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...2-img_5731.jpg M. Story is the car was sold new in Chicago and taken to Nickey early in it's life for a big block transplant. It was supposedly raced quite frequently at Union Grove. Every Memorial Day weekend Lane Automotive in Watervliet MI has an open house on Friday evening and on Saturday. Last year there were over 1,000 cars there. The highlights are a cackle fest at noon on Saturday and a dyno challenge. Here are a few pictures I've taken there over the past several years.
S. Lutes' 54 sedan delivery had a 383 with a mini blower and NOS backed by a 4 speed. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...n_delivery.jpg Nice 67 Chevy II SS with a small block. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...ova_ss_red.jpg N. Porpiglia's 85 T/A with a 400 small block and a ProCharger put out over 700 rwhp on the dyno. This car is a Drag Week regular and has gone as fast as 8.70's. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...ans_am_red.jpg Here are a few of the cars involved with the cackle fest. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...0-img_3564.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...1-img_3565.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...2-img_3567.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...3-img_6554.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...4-img_6556.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...5-img_6569.jpg P. Here are a few pictures I've taken over the years at Osceola Dragway which is the closest track to my house. They have a test and tune on Friday night and weekly bracket racing on Sundays. A lot of guys race at US 131 in Martin MI on Saturday and then come here on Sunday.
G. Crager's 70 Challenger is a low 9 second car. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...lengerblue.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...ngerengine.jpg Nice Corvette with a 496 and a Powerglide ran mid 9's. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...73vettered.jpg This 84 Hurst Olds runs high 8's with Oldsmobile power. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...123-84olds.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...oldsengine.jpg This clean 55 210 had a 540 with twin turbos and ran 9.00's in street trim. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...5-img_2672.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...6-img_2664.jpg This 70 Cuda is supposedly a body in white car that has been raced it's whole life. It had a 540ci Hemi and ran mid 9's. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...7-img_2669.jpg M. Tagmeyer's 67 Chevy II SS ran a 421 small block backed by a Jerico 4 speed and ran 10.20's. This was a fun car to watch run. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...8-img_2928.jpg Nice 72 442 W-30 clone had a 455 and ran 11.20's. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...2-img_5711.jpg This little 63 Chevy II sedan had a small block on NOS and ran 9.10's. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...3-img_6014.jpg Here's another picture of B. Goldstone's 7 second street legal 70 Chevelle SS. This is one of my favorite street and strip cars. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...6-img_6020.jpg Nice 69 Camaro SS runs a 540 on NOS and runs mid 8's. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...7-img_6028.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...8-img_6030.jpg This 70 Nova SS was a regular at the Super Chevy Shows in Indy and Joliet back in the late 90's and early 00's. Re: Musclecar Photographs mrays
US 131 Dragway in Martin MI is the closest big time track so I go there occasionally. Here are a few pictures from there over the last few years.
T. Strefling's 55 Bel Air sedan had a 580 and ran high 8's. This is one of the meanest sounding drag cars around. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...evy210blue.jpg The Heikus' 71 Z/28 had an Alan Johnson built 526 and ran high 6's. This was one bad machine. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...-71z28red1.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...-71z28red4.jpg S. Morris' 93 Caprice wagon has a 540 with a ProCharger and runs high 7's on drag radials. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...1-img_7320.jpg Clean 67 Camaro SS had a pump gas 496 and ran low 10's. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...2-img_7342.jpg Another clean 67 Camaro RS that had a big block on NOS and ran mid 8's. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...3-img_7340.jpg C. Costa's 09 Stratus had a 500ci Hemi Pro Stock engine backed by an automatic. I never saw him make a full pass, but it should run in the high 6's or low 7's. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...7-img_7332.jpg C. Caswell's 62 Impala with a 461 ran 9.70's. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...8-img_8224.jpg C. Manso's cool 01 Corvette with a 502 ran 9.20's. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...9-img_8174.jpg C. VanWerton's sleeper 67 Chevy II had a blue bench seat interior with a column shifted Powerglide and was powered by a naturally aspirated 420 small block. This didn't look like a mid 10 second car. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...0-img_8175.jpg R. Hoke's 68 Chevy II is a 9 second street and strip car and Drag Week regular. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...1-img_8256.jpg G. This looks like neat car! Are there any other pics of it on the net? I love cars that have the nostalgic feel and can still run. Thanks!

Re: Musclecar Photographs mrays
Thanks guys, I'm glad you're enjoying them! Last year was the first time I've ever seen that white 67 Chevy II. If I see it again I'll take some more pictures of it.
Here are a few miscellaneous photos from local events. This 63 Z-11 Impala was on display at the Gilmore Auto Museum and they brought it out to an event at Martin MI to promote the exhibit at the museum. I believe this is the only Satin Silver Z-11 and it has just over 1K miles on it. It was sold new at Gregor Chevrolet in Paramount CA. It supposedly has some original documentation including the POP. It was featured in Hot Rod many years ago. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...3impalaz11.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...az11engine.jpg The Hot Rod Power Tour stopped at the St. Joe Fairgrounds in South Bend IN in 2009 and these cars were there. Nice 67 Chevy II from MO. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...6_nova_red.jpg G. Abraham's 70 Nova was built by Rad Rods by Troy and featured a 572 producing over 1,000 hp. I think this car was featured in Popular Hot Rodding. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics..._nova_gray.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...nova_gray1.jpg This cool 69 Camaro had an LS9 and was owned by some famous guy from CA who's owned a bunch of Camaros and other cars over the years. I've heard he likes to keep a low profile so I won't identify him by name, but I think that's him behind the car. I believe this car was featured in several magazines. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...aro_yellow.jpg This 70 Hemi Challenger R/T was on display at the Gilmore Auto Museum several years ago when they had a muscle car display. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...5-img_0604.jpg |

Here are some photos from MCACN 2009. I'm sorry a few of them are a tad blurry. It was one of the first times I shot photos indoors with a digital camera and I was using a slow shutter speed to compensate for the lighting.
