Reproduction are fine.....? Just picked up a 68 Caprice Estate wagon and thinking along the same lines as a driver. |
Re: cars with vintage american racing wheels
FWIW, I think the VINTAGE Americans on this wagon just hit it out of the park. A new set would not have the same look, at least in my eyes. I may be biased, but I really don't like the look of the modern wheels. Close is not close enough...

Re: cars with vintage american racing wheels
i agree completely , that's why i started this thread and used the word "vintage" , post your 68 wagon photos!
-i have a set of 15x7" and 15x6" fully restored that i would consider selling..... -even my L88 427 engine cart has americans.... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...-15587-are.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...5588-are_2.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...-full_cart.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...heel_close.jpg <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Originally Posted By: 68l30</div><div class="ubbcode-body">FWIW, I think the VINTAGE Americans on this wagon just hit it out of the park. Re: cars with vintage american racing wheels
It will be ARW worthy when I'm done with it over the winter. Gotta have something to do in Jersey Nov-March!
The car belonged to a gentleman that had a general repair garage that closed 44 yrs ago. And the car was parked for 35 yrs in the shop. He passed away in 2013 at 94 yrs old The son is going threw the house and garage and is overwhelmed at 70 yrs old so I have to have patience LOL http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r...ps6ae8cff0.jpg http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r...ps6f814b6b.jpg http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r...psceacfb23.jpg |

http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r...ps6ae8cff0.jpg </div></div> I have just the thing for this wagon Jeff! Four original 15x6 American Sport Wheels, fully restored with NEW 215-70 Diamondback T/As with no letters on the outside. Smooth 'street side' tires with pinner whites. They were a tad too big for my Camaro so they have been sitting. Sport Wheels have a shallower backspacing than TTs so they would probably go great on a full-size like this wagon or a Chevelle. They stuck out a little too far for the Camaro. Tires nice and tall and would fill out that wagon's huge wheel arches very nicely. I think those big wagons came with 15x6 originally, at least in the Rally/disc brake wheels? I make you good deal G.I.! Just gotta' get them shipped all the way back there. Let me know/let's talk. I'm not a fan of radials....but I can see those tires with some full wheel covers on my Camaro. Nice. BIG |
Re: cars with vintage american racing wheels
Man... I love the look of "pinstripe" white walls with vintage mags or stock muscle car wheels. Redlines and white letters are everywhere, but few go for the white stripe.
