That sits real nice, what are the wheel (size &amp; backspace) / tire specs if you don't mind?</div></div>

DRC, you are still asking those questions about size and backspacing? </div></div>

I'm from Jersey, I ain't that bright. </div></div>
Ain't that hard my good man. its been covered about 5X. 14 or 15X6 0r 7. E,F or G 60's or H 70's in the rear with no issues. Deep dish may require some raising in the rear but I do not think you are going deep dish! WHEWWW

Re: Day 2 wheel suggestions?

The Green Nova has a great look! I would love to know more about it.

I do however, feel the rear tires kill the day 2 feel. Tread design and caltracks are clear signs of the modern era. I get it, the car looks great and I bet hooks even better than it looks. Just not everything with Cragars = Day 2.

The front tire combo is pretty nice. I would prefer a bias tire, but in that pic nothing is jumping out at me that is obviously wrong.

That green Nova is just sick; one of the coolest looking Day Two looks I've seen in a while (even with the tires and Cal Tracs - keep the tires and put on some Lakewoods and it'd be even sicker, lol).

Re: Day 2 wheel suggestions?

The 67 has 15x4 with a 5.60-15 Tiger Paw redline supplied by Donnie White. The rears are 15x6 with Hurst 7&quot; slicks. I can't recall the specific size but I think they are recapped on new 235/70 radials. It is the smallest 15&quot; slick Hurst makes. They are a bit bigger than the G70's we pulled off.

Hey Paul, why the use of a tall front tire in drag racing? that car looks great Burchy!

GaryC 02-01-2014 01:04 AM

Re: Day 2 wheel suggestions?

Didn't the taller front tire move the weight back a little from the front to the back. Added just that more to plant the rear tires...but I could be wrong...makes the car look cool too.

taller tire was used for rollout aid.

Re: Day 2 wheel suggestions?

Sammy, not sure this is the only answer but I recall Bill Jenkins writing abou a staggered front alignment. I think a tall tire would have a similar result and when used together, it would maximize the benefit. Bill mentioned how the configuration could aid in deep staging (shortening the track) or lenghtening the rollout to help prevent a red light. What are your thoughts?

Yes...rollout too but I'm not up on the meaning and I do remember reading something about that in the 70's.

Just read the article...and makes good sense to get that extra advantage especially if your reactions are really slow.

Re: Day 2 wheel suggestions?

I've got a line on 4 Cragar S/S rims - 2 rear are 15x8 with 4&quot; backspacing and 2 fronts are 15x7 with 4&quot; backspace. They were originally put on a new 1965 chevelle when originally purchased.

Can anyone confirm how that size wheel would fit the rear quarters of my 1969 Chevelle? I don't want to have to do any trimming of the wheel lips, etc.

Also, any suggestions on tire size?

Re: Day 2 wheel suggestions?

I think those wheels work on a 69 Chevelle.

I don't buy the story of those wheels being on a 65 as that is an extremly tight fit. Clearly the wheels are at least 20 years newer than a 65 too.

What kind of tires do you like?

Salvatore 02-12-2014 06:00 PM

Re: Day 2 wheel suggestions?

They look more like the flat style spokes to me. Maybe put on the 65 chevelle when it got restored? But from birth.....Maybe not.

69 Post Sedan 02-13-2014 01:18 PM

Re: Day 2 wheel suggestions?

They might work but will be sticking out a little too far.

I have Corvette rally wheels on the back of my Chevelle and they are 4.25&quot; b/s.

The best b/s for a Chevelle with a 8&quot; wheel is 4.5&quot;.

Re: Day 2 wheel suggestions?

Those are 'new' Cragars. Uni-lug, chrome in recessed area way nice than gennies, center cap is different [as well as spokes flatter] Purists care, others don't. Since they are new, why not just buy new ones with a better backspage from Jegs?

I put the Cragars on the TA Challenger. 15x7 all around with 235/60/15 front and 255/60/15 rear.

Re: Day 2 wheel suggestions?

Thanks for the advice guys. If they are not the original vintage cragar, I'm going to pass on them and keep looking... For a vintage 15x8 mag with 4.5&quot; b/s.
Thanks!
