Re: Big MCACN Announcement; Calling Yenko Enthusiasts
OK, Bob. You're making up all these cars to irritate me, aren't you.
|
Re: Big MCACN Announcement; Calling Yenko Enthusiasts
7 Yenko Chevelles, unreal! Has to be one of the biggest gathering of Yenko Chevelles ever.
|
Re: Big MCACN Announcement; Calling Yenko Enthusiasts
And 6 Yenko Stingers! oops, make that 7 including the '72.
And...and...and... Oh Kasey.... Bashton MCACN Managing member |
Re: Big MCACN Announcement; Calling Yenko Enthusiasts
I've started to pack already. I've been thinking of downsizing my own collection, so we will have more Yenko (die cast) than anywhere we have ever been, ever. I've pulled out close to 40 different cars (67-8-9 Camaros, 69 Chevelles, 69-70 Nova's) with most of them just 1 car each. And just so all here know, it's not (not) all about the booth & selling. My business partner Scott and I originally attended (as we're both car guys) and we were simply blown away. So much, we'll never miss one. The circles of specialty cars, the Hursts, the Hemi Cuda converts, the people, the barn finds, the, the, the... man what an event. I'm excited man... I'm excited. Just put a countdown (number of days) on our homepage - with a link of course to MCACN. Is it too early to pack the duffle bag? 51? Wow...

Re: Big MCACN Announcement; Calling Yenko Enthusiasts
It looks like we added another 70 Yenko Deuce and a 69 Yenko Camaro X11 in progress to the show!..BKH

Re: Big MCACN Announcement; Calling Yenko Enthusiasts
The official count is 61. Add a very familiar Hugger Orange all original and unrestored '69 sYc 427 Camaro to the mix, that we all know very well!

Re: Big MCACN Announcement; Calling Yenko Enthusiasts
Oops sorry Rick, I didn't follow up on my last post. The owners initials are MH. The restoration work thus far has been done by local shops and the quality falls short of what the car deserves... The car is very presentable, but lacking the finer details

Re: Big MCACN Announcement; Calling Yenko Enthusiasts
Bob, this looks like it's going to be one of the best car shows ever!
I'm not sure where the previous notice was placed, but I wanted to remind all the Yenko participants that I will be photographing ALL of the Yenkos at this year's show and will place as many as I can into a new book that will be available Fall 2013 (health permitting). If your Yenko has an interesting or unique story, please forward it to me for possible inclusion into the book. I will not be bringing a computer or a scanner to the show, so email works best. Please send your story to: pete@vetturapublishing.com for review. Thanks! Re: Big MCACN Announcement; Calling Yenko Enthusiasts
It is officially one week from our departing for MCACN. The task ahead will be daunting, placing 60+ Yenko cars. If all goes well, we will be starting on Thursday @ 3PM. If you are in the area and would like to lend a hand on Thursday or Friday, please stop by and say hello. We have at this point lots of volunteers, but anyone willing to help is welcome. Once again I would like to extend a huge THANK YOU, to Bob Ashton and the MCACN crew for letting this idea happen. The owners of the cars and memorabilia, and all the volunteers behind the scene, who without their support the 25th Don Yenko memorial event could never happen...BKH

Re: Big MCACN Announcement; Calling Yenko Enthusiasts
I packed up the Yenko items I have in my personalo collection, plus the stuff at work is almost ready to load in the van. I'm pumped!

Re: Big MCACN Announcement; Calling Yenko Enthusiasts
After the last three succcessful MCACN shows, people asked "how will you ever top this?"
Well, with the incredible support of people who share the passion that all of the MCACN members have, is the answer. This display, along with the other special displays and the show in general, will be nothing short of mind blowing. And I can honestly say, there is no shortage of fresh idea's that we are already working on for 2013 and beyond. We would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to each and every one who is involved in making the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals the incredible show that it is. Let the countdown begin! Just a reminder to all show participants of the "Meet the Mean Ones" Display. Make sure you have under a 1/4 tank of fuel. If you have more come see me and I will help you with regulations..BKH

Re: Big MCACN Announcement; Calling Yenko Enthusiasts
Brian- i can help too. you can just hand me the keys and i'll happily drive the cars around until its suitable to return them with the required 1/4 tank so they meet regulations.

Re: Big MCACN Announcement; Calling Yenko Enthusiasts
Jerry's car will be at the MCACN car show this weekend at the TLC Restorations display. I'll be floating between his car and Jim Parks' 1969 Yenko Camaro.
Here's a picture of Jerry's car getting detailed at TLC's shop for the MCACN show Kurt https://www.yenko.net/attachments/use...1-p1100774.jpg https://www.yenko.net/attachments/use...2-p1100773.jpg |

Re: Big MCACN Announcement; Calling Yenko Enthusiasts
I appreciate the fact that Brian and Joey asked for our help and participation. We did very little compared to all the others that also helped especially Jeff Murphy. His plans were the best ever and well organized though I need to get better at my math before I can help him again..... The best was when we were able to meet Mark Gillespie and Warren Dernoshek at the same show. Great guys and even better stories. We were also honored to be displayed along with Eddie's car. Stunning.

Re: Big MCACN Announcement; Calling Yenko Enthusiasts
Nobody lines up cars like Jeff Murphy - nobody!
|
Re: Big MCACN Announcement; Calling Yenko Enthusiasts
Let me say Thank You to Brian and Bob and everyone that had a hand in the Yenko display! I had a great time, met more new people, caught up with old friends and gathered new info (I know a lot more about Stingers now). I was out there 4 days and it felt like 1, went by way too fast. Rick and Anne were great hosts, again, and I want to thank them for making it possible for the Camaro to be there. Eddie, thanks for letting me park in the vicinity of your awesome car :-) , it was fun. I think the setup and breakdown was icing on the cake, just listening and smelling the fumes as the cars are coming in and leaving, priceless.

Re: Big MCACN Announcement; Calling Yenko Enthusiasts
What was the final Yenko count at the event?
Any other interesting trivia to rattle off, i.e. 6 out of the 8 Trans Am ragtops? (Where was #7 that didn't show up? Was that the Vegas car?) |
Re: Big MCACN Announcement; Calling Yenko Enthusiasts
Las Vegas car was a no show even though I was assured it would be there.
|
Re: Big MCACN Announcement; Calling Yenko Enthusiasts
Additional question for the Chevy-inclined: What was the deal with the two Yenko Novas? One was bronze/brown and the other was red. Were they cars never converted to 427s?

Send me your email address and I can send you a PDF of the final layout of the cars including their colors and owners. The two Novas were both unconverted cars. The correct color is Nutmeg Brown Firemist Metallic (code 97) RPO on 1969 Cadillac only, special ordered by original owner for this car. We call her Nutmeg for short. |
