Those would be perfect! Do you know what they mean by this: "Front mat is one piece with a trim line on the back for Bucket Seats"? Does that mean they can be used for bench seat...or cut for use with buckets??
I guess I need to find an air cleaner too. Nice thing about a survivor, at least I don't have to hunt down (and pay for) NOS! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gif Thanks Grady! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif |
Re: 67 Caprice 427 - Any thoughts?
Jacquie, That is correct. Could be used for a bench seat or buckets with console.

If so I wonder what Casey used on the '68 as I thought his was an L72 car so may be worth asking him if he still has that single snorkle unit he posted the pics of?. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif ~ Pete -------------------- I like real cars best...especially the REAL real ones! |
Re: 67 Caprice 427 - Any thoughts?
Thanks Pete...that is indeed the correct air cleaner for the Caprice.

Re: 67 Caprice 427 - Any thoughts?
Final update on the Caprice...
It's going back to Don Hardy. He asked me to sell it back to him. Didn't want to, but what else could I do...it's only right. He will be coming to pick it up in a few days. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/frown.gif Oh well, maybe he will let me get a picture with him and the car to remember it by. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/cool.gif So Bruce, good thing I kept the receipt on that purple fedora, doesn't look like you'll be needing it. We'll have to go back to Plan A, your blue beast. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/burnout.gif |
Re: 67 Caprice 427 - Any thoughts?
I don't get this...if Don didn't want to sell the car, then why did he? You paid his asking price, hauled the car home at your own expense, and cleaned the car up very nicely. It is a very nice gesture on your part Jacquie but you owe Don nothing. Personally, if it were me, I'd tell Don that's too bad, I paid you a fair price for the car and I'm keeping it. Apparently I'm not as nice of a person as you are Jacquie! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif

Re: 67 Caprice 427 - Any thoughts?
Randy, Don lost the car in divorce. I bought it from his ex (who by the way, is most likely not going to be happy when she finds out he got it back). This was Don's opportunity to get his car back.

Re: 67 Caprice 427 - Any thoughts?
Randy, Jacquie bought the car from Don's ex-wife...who doesn't like Don very much right now....
That's a cool thing you did Jacquie https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif Oops, too late. You are too quick Jacquie! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/tongue.gif |
Re: 67 Caprice 427 - Any thoughts?
Is this the gal that you were afraid was going to beat you up Jacquie? When she finds out you sold the car back to her ex, she may :-) Keep an eye over your shoulder Jacquie! BTW...I think it's really nice of you to do this....I didn't know the whole story I guess....reluctantly, I'd probably do the same thing so I guess I am as nice of a person as you are https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/wink.gif

But yeah, thank goodness she doesn't know where I live!

Re: 67 Caprice 427 - Any thoughts?
You did the right thing Jacquie. You made some money, made some friends, had a great excursion and sold a car back to it's original owner who just happens to be famous. Kudos to you! Don called me last week and seemed like a very nice and down to earth guy. Unfortunately I had a customer in the shop so I did not get a chance to reminisce with him about our pro stock racing days in the early 80's. I don't think you should have any regrets. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/worship.gif

Re: 67 Caprice 427 - Any thoughts?
was the 409 his too?
|
Re: 67 Caprice 427 - Any thoughts?
Yes it was. Don made it a 409 many years ago.
|
Re: 67 Caprice 427 - Any thoughts?
is he buying that back too:?
|
Re: 67 Caprice 427 - Any thoughts?
No. Both the cars are in the same storage bldg so he will see it when he picks up the Caprice. Ya never know I guess.

Re: 67 Caprice 427 - Any thoughts?
Jacquie, that was a very nice gesture to sell the Caprice back to Mr. Hardy. Very nice, indeed. He had to be attached to it after 42 years of ownership and to lose it after what seems to be a nasty divorce had to have been heartbreaking. I would hate to go through something like that. Anyway, 'ya did good and made a new friend!

Jacquie, that was a very nice gesture to sell the Caprice back to Mr. Hardy. Very nice, indeed. [/ QUOTE ] Whoa, hold on a minute...I'm not so sure I'm THAT nice! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/haha.gif I didn't give it up so easily...I bought that car because I loved it and wanted it! He had to call back several times before he totally convinced me. It would have been hard to say no to any original owner wanting their car back...but Don being who he is made it even more difficult. Everyone's happy...Don will be reunited with his car that he thought he would never see again...and the whole process of finding the car covered with dust, discovering who it belonged to, checking out all the originality of the car, finding the cool POP in the glovebox, cleaning it up, meeting and talking to Don and Sue, as well as new friendships made (you're right Rick, more than one https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/wink.gif) at SYC and TC with people who advised me throughtout the whole ordeal...has been priceless. It has been a fun and exciting experience, and it's not over yet...I still get to look forward to meeting Don face to face over lunch when he comes to get his Caprice! How Chttps://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/cool.gifhttps://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/cool.gifL is that!! |
Re: 67 Caprice 427 - Any thoughts?
Man, I'm jeaous! Don Hardy is a living legend and lunch with him would be a day I'd never forget! He built so many famous cars for so many famous racers, that I don't know where to even start. I was just reading an old, late-70's Car Craft magazine about how quickly he constructed Bob Glidden's first all-conquering Ford Fairmont at the same time he was finishing Dyno Don Nicholson's Fairmont. I mean, he totally constructed TWO state-of-the-art Pro Stockers in something like less than two weeks! Neat guy that's had an astonishing career in Drag Racing.
