Re: really cool 70 Z28..simply the best.
The original owner ding in the door and more story takes this way beyond the amazing car itself..
Like art this is a pure example of the remains of genuine Musclecar Americana!. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/worship.gif ~ Pete |

Re: really cool 70 Z28..simply the best.
Cooler than cool...Considering the history, low mileage and nothing other than the battery ever having been changed, does this car now become the 1970 Z/28 "Benchmark Car" https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/hmmm.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/hmmm.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif
I think if you photographed this car bumper to bumper, part by part and put it in a book it would become a best seller! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif Will you adopt me? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/haha.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/haha.gif Lucky Bum!! |

The title says it all "simply the best" is so right. Charley have you noticed most of your Camaros are Rally Sports?

Congrats Chill. I like to see the new interest in Un-Restored, original cars. Not only are they a rare piece of history that's been "preserved", they are the "benchmarks" for other cars to be restored by. Their intrinsic value for the future of the hobby is far greater than their current market value. Dollars can not quantify the true value of a car like that..... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/flag.gif

Re: really cool 70 Z28..simply the best.
I talked briefly with Norman today. He worked in St Charles and was driving a 69 Impala Custom to work and would drive by Fencl-Tufo every day. He had driven a friends 70 Z and liked it. One4 day as he is driving home from work he sees this car on the lot and traded in his Impala on it. The inside rear view mirror is missng and Norman said it was like that when he got it and he never bothered to go back and bug them about it. There is a area behind the right rear wheel that has been painted on but Norman said he had never noticed it and he never painted on it. Jason said it is lacquer so we are guessing it was done at the factory or at the dealer before Norman bought it.

Re: really cool 70 Z28..simply the best.
What a find. It's incredible a car can sit that long unmolested. Love it. Can't wait to see some of the detail pics.

Re: really cool 70 Z28..simply the best.
My question is, how did he keep his kids from taking it for a joy ride? (I know I would have)

Charlie, Congratulations can't wait to see the rest of the pictures.

Re: really cool 70 Z28..simply the best.
They don't get any better than this. Great find. Known Jason 20 years, bought my first 69z from him. Just a kid then. Congrates Chas. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

Re: really cool 70 Z28..simply the best.
The hard part is convincing Jason that it is MY car and not his car. This will be the first time a survivor hits his place and then leaves. He knows cars but his photo emailing skills suck. But he is working on it.
|
Re: really cool 70 Z28..simply the best.
So is the car going to get any exercise or is it going to stay as is? It would be a shame not to drive it a little bit.

Re: really cool 70 Z28..simply the best.
Norm read a magazine Article, in which we were mentioned. He contacted us, because of that article. He decided to sell the Camaro since his research had shown that an original owner Survivor Camaro, might be a desirable and collectable Camaro.
He had called several appraisal sources prior. We were also contaced about the Camaro from one of those companies. His quote to me regarding selling the Camaro was that, he was getting older and that you never know what might happen to him or the Camaro. He wanted to make certain that it went to a good home. |
Re: really cool 70 Z28..simply the best.
Charley, are you going to remove the undercoating? If so, please describe the procedure to do this. I've got the same issue on a car and I'm gearing up for this as a winter project. I know that it is beautiful underneath the undercoating. |
Re: really cool 70 Z28..simply the best.
No. The undercoating is part of the history of the car. No reason to tamper with it. If the car had been messed with I would do it but this thing deserves to be left alone.
I have removed undercoating on other cars by using white gas, kerosene, WD40 etc to soften it up and then a high pressure steam cleaner. Any petroleum distillate will soften it. |
Re: really cool 70 Z28..simply the best.
OK, I agree with that, but don't you think that the "TG" on that 1970 plate means it needs to come to Austin to live..... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/hmmm.gif

Re: really cool 70 Z28..simply the best.
Notice there is still paint on the door latch grease. And all the undercoating on the smog pump, fuel pump, valve cover. One pics shows the stainless trim where the hood fender and door meet. The hood stainless hits the fender stainless. The fender should have been shimmed out more.
|
Re: really cool 70 Z28..simply the best.
That is the coolest freaking thing I have seen in quite a while! I could study the photos for hours...
NICE SCORE Charlie!!! |
Re: really cool 70 Z28..simply the best.
Look how the wiper fluid jar hasn't yellowed at all.
If that isn't another testament to how little sunlight/engine compt. heat this car has never seen,I don't know what is. Could somebody PLEASE take a close up picture of the CW p/s mounted ID tag on this TH400.. |
Re: really cool 70 Z28..simply the best.
Ya looks like Zebart had a field day, I like the way the stripes wrap at latch area.
Very nice |

Is there any over spray on the valve cover edges? |
