We'll get him there. I'm pretty sure he'll be at the reunion this year,................. maybe behind the wheel of a Black Chevelle on Friday. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/blush.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif
Here's some shots of the 'Flag racing'. Note the 'Starter' out front in the smoke. Brought back some good memories. http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m...R/DSCF0174.jpg Of course, with no electronics the cars had to be staged manually. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m...R/DSCF0177.jpg http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m...R/DSCF0180.jpg http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m...R/DSCF0181.jpg |
Re: Update from St. Louis
Stopped for a couple of shots of the gassers and struck up a conversation with one of the owners. (far left) Saturday was the first time out for this car. He told us he was there with a borrowed truck, borrowed trailer and borrowed slicks. The entire car was built in his garage at home from a sadly rusted hulk he drug out of a ditch around Poplar Bluff, MO. Paid $200 for the body and frame then patched it all back together. The photos he had of the entire project were amazing. The top tag is the original VIN tag for the car.

One final bunch. Thought this was kinda cool.
http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m...R/DSCF0116.jpg http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m...R/DSCF0118.jpg Wondered where in the world he found a 'glass flip front-end for a '50 Chevy so we asked him. He told us he had it made from an old mold by someone in Ashtabula Ohio. He said, "Probably never heard of the place, have you?" https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif I replied, "Wanna bet?" https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m...R/DSCF0121.jpg |
Re: Update from St. Louis
Wow Dennis, great pics. Your timing on the starting line shots was perfect, catching both cars hanging their wheels.
Someone should hire you on as a magazine photographer. I love the Nostalgia Super Stocks too. Thanks for sharing. |

The photo of me racing the blue T/A, I was expecting a little larger movement of the flag, instead I saw a small flick of the wrist. That shot is of me burbing the throttle and hitting the brakes at the same time!!!! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/haha.gif I feel like a goof, but I will be prepared for that in KC this fall!!!! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/3gears.gif |
Re: Update from St. Louis
Oops! Sorry. I left my glasses in the truck and was watching through the viewfinder so I really wasn't sure which one was you. Honestly, didn't know if ANY of the shots were gonna be useful!
Sometimes you get lucky. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif |
