Re: Gibb/Harrell 70 El Camino and Nova
I think Dick had a contract or something with Carter in those days. He was their promo man. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/3gears.gif

Yep, I know of two life-sized cardboard advertising pieces in someone's basement. (Mr. Chevrolet holding the Carter Thermo-quad carb.) Carter was one of Dick's biggest sponsors.
I'll bet there are a few members here that have them also................... or wish they did! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif Pictures anyone? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/wink.gif |
Re: Gibb/Harrell 70 El Camino and Nova
Neat article!! It states that Kelsey Hayes wheels are on the Nova, does anyone have A better shot of those type wheels? Are those spring clamps the same type that Harrells shop used on the 68 ChevyII's? Thanks for posting it https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

Your eyes are fine, good catch.
Buried in the article it says: "the addition of Harrell's own brand of deck spoiler." |
Re: Gibb/Harrell 70 El Camino and Nova
Those wheels are Kelsey Hayes "Strippers"... its a 20 spoke wheel that was used on a fair amount of Dick's cars. There were two types, Strippers and Satin Strippers. Satin Strippers had a black casting finish while regular Strippers were grey (ish) silver or gold. They came in 3 sizes... 15x7 are very tough to find, 15x6 are most commonly sold and 15x4 are pretty tough too.

I have a list of the current prices. I know a member here was (or is) selling a complete mint set for around a $1000. NOS Satin Strippers: Click here! Hope this helps! -Dan |
