Re: Martin Michigan FAST/ Pure Stock
That really was a great time. Somebody said there were 74 Factory Stock cars there. Wish it'd been 75 with the yellow Yenko. Bummer, Rob.
Ran against a supercharged F code 57 Ford Custom 2 door and almost blew it underestimating his top end. Winning the grand door prize of a new set of Firestone Wide Ovals really made it a sweet weekend! You can't believe the Lamb Kabobs in the parking lot Friday night. Even the second dozen that I almost ate were fabulous. Lots of carnage all over in the morning after: Wide open trailers, gumbo soup, dead aluminum soldiers everywhere.... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/haha.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/haha.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/haha.gif |

Re: Martin Michigan FAST/ Pure Stock
My first event and I can't believe the calibre of cars that were in attendance.Best show/race I've ever been to.Local car shows just won't be the same anymore.
Met great people and had a fantastic time. Glad you all liked the lamb kabobs! Just wait till Stanton! We'll get the parking lot party to another level. Hey Benoit.......I'm gonna work on my burnouts. Thanks to all that made my weekend so memorable! |
Re: Martin Michigan FAST/ Pure Stock
Bruno,
Great to meet you and I am glad that you had a good time! I have always wanted to park close to Pete and JJ (for the beer), but you are making the pull of the Canadian group too much to stay away from!!! Great looking/ running car and the kabobs were excellent. At this race, I have realized that you start out coming to race, but the friends, food, and fun are what you really remember out of the event! (I hate to say this out loud, but I think that the bulk of my 'friends' are in the the parking lot!) Even though it was hot (yes, even by Missouri standards it was hot!) the car ran the best times that it has ever run at one of these events! [email protected] during Friday T-n-T. 13.46 @102.7 during eleminations in 93 degree heat!! Travel over 700 miles just to get paired up with your traveling buddy in the shootout! I ran aganst Steve Hodges '70 440+6 'Cuda and took him out in 2 rounds. I believe that we have slated a rematch at KCIR sometime this summer! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/cool.gif The car weighed in at 4177# and I still am running the 3.23 gearing! |
Re: Martin Michigan FAST/ Pure Stock
Thanks so much Rusty!
It was great racing but the people made it memorable! see ya in Stanton...........and bring your appetite! |
Re: Martin Michigan FAST/ Pure Stock
Bruno..... You and the lady made the party.
Rusty, I can't believe your car went that fast after you ate that much! Thanks Peter |
Re: Martin Michigan FAST/ Pure Stock
Geez you guys are one state over & cook your own food too?
Making real hard to say No here.. |
Re: Martin Michigan FAST/ Pure Stock
Pete,
Even though I ate as much as I did, I think I sweated out more in weight than I consumed. I hopped on the scale at home after the weekend and was 12# lighter than I went up. Water weight? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif |

Re: Martin Michigan FAST/ Pure Stock
I know you guys listen to me and Pete and Rusty and the rest of us harp on and on about Pure Stock and FAST, but as Bruno stated above, once you've experienced just 1 event, you'll be HOOKED, guaranteed! It truly is a car show in motion...
