Now it comes down to the Chevrolet Trim line where more equipment is installed to complete the body. Sub-components arrive with build sheets attached, then thrown away (most of them https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif) http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j3...eringChevy.jpg

Notice there is no gas tank yet, and although it doesn't show, there is no jack or spare in the trunk yet, the lights haven't been checked, etc, etc. Notice that the body cradles are the same ones that will finally rest the body on it's chassis. (those Chevy orange ones!)

Did anyone notice the little sticker on the rear brake drum? (they were always on the right drum only)

Likewise the frame decal is always mounted on the drivers side of the frame and likely for the same reason. The reason it is likely on the drivers side is according to several photos I have seen, the frames came down the line upside down until just before the engine/trans were installed so the decal would be on the same side of the line when upside down.

Yes Rick,
Here's the turn-over with the rear axle assy ready under it. (no sticker visable on the drum, but a large one on top of the axle housing) This may be '59. Notice the pile of lower control arms on the floor!

And while the frame was upside down, it was marked with the VIN derivitive with crayon. This is a '63.

It's final assembly debut and trip onto the rollers for a test run, then out the door. http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j3...nestarting.jpg

really shows the difference between the black out firewall paint and the 60 degree gloss on the heater box... doesn't it?
