And as far as Postal money orders go, I'm about to find out how much protection that offers as someone just stung me for a pretty nice chunk of $$$ courtesy of a USPS money order (not eBay related). I guess we'll see if Ol' Unkie really does go after scammers like they say they do.

Hey, Just ask Mark Hassett. USPS and a potential Postmaster General investigation in Florida, ended several weeks bantering about a set of junk BB '941 heads a scammer had listed in Hemmings as a "perfect like new set". The guy was good and pushed the Hemmings fraud lady out of the way like she was not even there, but when the scammer found out the USPS was ready to investigate, he hacked up the money-fast. As for me, when I cannot see it and there is large $$ on the line I always use a USPS MO.

You fill out a form with the money order information and if it hasn't been cashed yet they will cancel it and send you back your money.

About that time is when they are gonna find their picture on a poster on the Post Office wall. Remember the guy from Angola that is gonna have Bubba as a roommate for pulling that kind of stuff? When that happens, they're gonna get the same thing they gave everyone else. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/wink.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gif

Re: PayPal

I believe the waiting period for the cash back on a postal money order is 30 days. They will not cash it earlier than that in my experience with a lost money order. The only way you could scam someone out of the cash with a money order is if they don't cash it in during the 30 day waiting period.

3% for a safe transaction whats the problem? I use pay pal and recieve pay pal with over 200k in transactions and my moneys allways good . I dont have to wait to ship and my buyer dosent have to wait to get what they bought ,I guess thats why my auctions do so well I proubally get 5% more for the same item as someone who dosent take pay pal so im 2% better off

When the fee for receiving $500 is $15, that seems like a big penalty for convenience. Knowing that I've just paid Ebay the listing fee and commission, it stings a little to give them $15 more just to receive money that way.

Also, I had someone pay with Paypal and bogus account / credit card information. I got the payment right away, shipped right away, and then the money got yanked from my account a week later. Parts were gone, money was gone. Lesson learned. To be eligible for their seller protection policy, be sure to read it all and follow it to the letter.

Therefore, unless I've dealt with the person several times and am comfortable with them, I avoid accepting PayPal when the dollar amounts get higher.
