Re: COPO Chevelle resto progress
Very impressive work George. Rest assured, your COPO will be one of the first Chevrolets I will be looking for at BJ 2006!

Re: COPO Chevelle resto progress
Looking terrific George, very well done. Gee, some nice looking decals on the front end https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif
I have a couple of questions. I notice the "Malibu" script on the quarters and the lower rocker moldings with silver color. Did some COPO's come this way? Good luck at BJ George https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif |
Re: COPO Chevelle resto progress
Those decals were secured from an underground source in a foreign country with American currency. And yes they are nice, Thanks Don. And the Malibu trim is rare, correct for this car and just a few others I have heard of. I don't think it was ordered any different, just happened to be built on a Malibu body instead of an SS body like the others. I'll take a shot of the build sheet and Protecto Plate imprint when get a moment.

Re: COPO Chevelle resto progress
Never seen matching orange exhaust manifolds before, I like it. Nice car, what day is this going across the block?
Is that Gardner exhaust? |
Re: COPO Chevelle resto progress
A Malibu with a 427... speechless.

Re: COPO Chevelle resto progress
correct with manifolds painted, just like Tonawanda (good photos in some Corvette NCRS stuff clearly showing this) Once car is run and hot it all burns off except just up by the heads. You get the perfect look. My Butternut yenko done exactly like this 16 years ago still looks good with manifolds looking bare, natural, very light brownish/rust except engine orange showing just near the heads. You end up with the right look but car must get up to temp a couple times. We are gonna fire this car next week and I will share post burn off pictures afterwards.
Yes, Gardner chambered (correct per my build sheet to be chambered and original was still on car but cut for headers). BJ Friday night, 7-8PM I figure. I'll be one nervous SOB. |
Re: COPO Chevelle resto progress
George, if you get too nervous before driving your COPO up to the block, I'll ride up there with you. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif
