Chuck
Here is a some pics of my car with endless lines and freakdrops(notice the front of the hood scoop). My car was painted in 1974 and even then endless lines were on the way out. The guy that owned my car said he told the painter he wanted the new popular "ribbon" painting but this is what the painter came up with. He said he was super ticked off at the time when he saw the car because endless lines were already becoming dated for the period. Red/White is really hard to come up with a custom color format. If you did not have the white stripes it would be easier. I would get rid of the white stripes and do some type of shading/panel painting that is on my car-that borders the endless lines. |

Re: 70's style paint and graphics
now that's a cool paint job with those endless lines and drops.yep that's my plan is to remove those Z28 stripes and do panel painting of some sort. i was thinking of white panels and warm color like orange or even a powder blue color as a accent stripe https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif .just something to set the color off and go wild and another is how many panels to do on my car. i think having one large panel on the side and then on the sail panel. i not sure of the trunk lid but the grump lump hood is going to be satin black https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/3gears.gif

Re: 70's style paint and graphics
What about some gold leave lettering... like something found on the Grumpy Jenkins cars or pretty much any period correct drag car?

Re: 70's style paint and graphics
Chuck, I guess I never heard them called endless lines. We did a lot of those but called them op art lines. Maybe a geograghic thing, Freak drops I haven't heard in a while. They're pretty cool too. I always kinda liked fish scales too. For a while around here two color flip flop pearl was big. I did Cronkleton's 68 SS 350 nova in Cortez silver with a blue/gold flip flop pearl back in about 75. It was pretty cool. Way cool at night under the lights. Then we figured out how to suspend the pearl in the clear laquer for a halo effect. That was pretty sharp too.
Geez Sam, we really are old, but it sure was fun. |

For a while around here two color flip flop pearl was big [/ QUOTE ] That's actually what I was thinking of. My brother painted his white 71 Z/28 black with purple flip-flop. I remember him painting the car on our driveway. Then he pinstriped it with red. I'll have to dig up some pictures of that. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif |
