Re: Help on '67 Camaro VIN
So this kind of solves the mystery. The car is an original RS/SS-350 with the wrong VIN tag.
Now what to do, what if the title shows the wrong VIN? What if it shows the original VIN, how do I fix the tag on the door? |
Re: Help on '67 Camaro VIN
Pull out the back seat and check for the traction bar plate on the pass-side.

Re: Help on '67 Camaro VIN
The rear seat is out because I just recovered it. What will I be looking for?

Re: Help on '67 Camaro VIN
There is about an 8"x8" plate on the floor under where the seat would be on the passenger side, nothing on the driver's side. Is this what you are talking about? I can take a picture of it.

Re: Help on '67 Camaro VIN
That sounds like the bracing he was talking about. My guess is that you have a stolen car on your hands and that the door VIN will match the title. There's really no other reason to swap a 6 cylinder VIN onto an othewise solid car.

Re: Help on '67 Camaro VIN
Check your email Jason. How about posting a picture of the vin-tag on the post?

Re: Help on '67 Camaro VIN
I will take a pic of the VIN and post it soon.
I have been looking at selling this car but since I have been studying it lately I have found a new love for the car. I have decided to keep it, once I get this VIN thing figured out. I have decided since the RS/SS-350 cars aren't that valuable that I am going to make a Yenko car out of it. I really like Jim Pearse's '67 Yenko posted on this site. Is there any way to contact him to get more pics of the car to see what I need and what I need to change? Thanks. |
Re: Help on '67 Camaro VIN
No matter what the outcome, the fact is the true VIN for that car is 124377N184434. This is verified by the partial VIN under the cowl and you can also check the partial under the heater box by the blower motor. The partial VIN also matches by the build date and body code on the trim taq.
If the VIN on the title is the 6 cylinder VIN I would do what I could to get the car legit and/or resaleable. Rick H. |
Re: Help on '67 Camaro VIN
If the car is stolen, who do I contact to tell them this and either way, how to I get a new VIN and the title changed to reflect the original VIN? I want to do the right thing here, I just hope I don't lose my car.

Re: Help on '67 Camaro VIN
I have made a mistake, Jim Pearse's car is a Nickey, not a Yenko. I don't know what I was thinking. Anyway, if anyone has some detail pictures of a '67 Yenko I would appreciate it.
