I am still trying to figure out why Don ordered rear antenna on the Yenko Chevelles.

69 Chevelle rear antenna was an extra cost option on AM only not available on AM FM.

According to our "1969 Chevrolet Passenger Car Prices" guide, on a Chevelle equipped with an AM radio (as the Yenko Chevelles were) the rear antenna was only $9.50 while the front antenna was $61.10...as suspected, Don was just keepin' the cost down.

Wait, something's not right... you mean it was optional to get a front antenna OR a rear antenna? Whats standard with an AM radio then, NO antenna? I bet that reception was good. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/wink.gif I'll bet it was 61.10 for the front antenna AM radio, and an extra 9.50 for the rear antenna option... unless it was the other way around, and the AM radio option came standard with a rear antenna... but I always thought the rear mount was an extra cost option.

Who's on First Joe! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif

Maybe the $61.10 was the Power telescoping antenna price? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif

Re: Meet the Mean Ones!

Was a radio even "standard" on a Chevelle? I've always heard the only options Yenko ordered on the '69s were AM radio, vinyl top, and power steering...maybe a radio, even a lowly AM, was indeed extra? And if ya get a radio, you gotta pay for an antenna...going through our dealer books and such, I can't find anything that says "standard" or "included" when dealing with radios...

don't have any books here but I believe AM radio was an option and the rear antenna was an option. $61.00 sounds like the price of the whole AM radio

An AM radio was indeed optional, but all Yenko cars (camaros and Chevelles) in 69 had this option.

-------I suspect Don and I have something in common. Maybe he just couldnt stand front antennas. I know I cant! I find them distracting. Even plugged the hole on the front fender of my Suburban and put the antenna in the roof..........Bill S

What's funny is, I looked through my dealer catalog and on NONE of the Chevelles is an antenna visible...front or rear, it ain't on there! So, maybe you're on to something there... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif
