No, we were talking about the one in the link, not the one I'm looking at.

I'm not sure what the one I'm looking at has for a motor, I just inquired to the price for now. I'm assuming that the one I'm looking at has a 350; if I'm lucky, a 455.

You can find a GS 350 car out here in CA for +-5k. I know I already suggested this to you, but do consider making a trip out West to buy a car. I lived in WI for 17 years...I know what the cars are like in the area....

I think it would be too difficult to make a trip to get a car; I also refuse to pay those god aweful shipping prices. I'll just stick to looking around in my area . . . I'll probably have the best chances around here. I'll just have to find one that isn't covered with rust like the rest of them.

I lived in Minneapolis from cradle to marriage (24), and have been on the west coast ever since. The quality of the cars out here is magnitudes better, and the shipping cost will pay for itself with the first floor pan replacement you DON'T have to do. Open trailer shipping should be less than a grand. It's a pain to go long distance, for sure. But not as big a pain as turning a rusty pig into something solid and straight. It makes sense, money wise. Your basic tired old Skylark/Chevelle/Mustang goes for about the same money whether its in LA, Minneapolis, or Boston. The difference is that the Los Angeles (or Seattle) car won't have holes you can put your arm through. Undoing that damage almost always costs more than cross country shipping. Just my .02c. Good luck on your search.

One other thing, try to find a GS with a good motor. I have a friend with a killer '70 GS 350. He recently had to go through the motor (twice-one cracked crankshaft, and a then an incompetent machinist) and those Buick 350's can be rebuilt, and built up hot, but it ain't cheap. Especially if you're used to rebuilding small block Chevs.

Everything depends on how much I get for my car, and I think that $5500 is a very fair price for it.

I guess shipping would pay off, but finding out all those "little" surprises is half the fun, right? I'll just make sure I know what I'm buying before cash comes into play.

Really, if any of these cars comes up for sale in my area, I just may go for them instead:

'69 Camaro
'70 GS/ GSX
'67-71 Chevelle
'68-71 Nova
'67-69 Firebird
'68-69 GTO

. . . and I'm sure there's some I forgot. I definitely want to own one of each of these in my lifetime. That's my goal, and I have mostly all the plans mapped out for each one of 'em!

We'll see how it goes.
