Re: Day 2 Modifications.

I will check out Summit a little bit later.

I know what 'slapper bars' are, but what exactly do they do? I am not sure I want to modify the suspension.

My hope for the tires is to have them fit properly (no rubbing) under the wheel wells. I can't imagine a 255s will fit. I am having a hard enough time believing the 245s will fit.

Are there any under car differences between a 1970 Camaro Sport Coupe (my car) and a 1970 Camaro SS L-34? Thanks guys.

Musclcar: If possible could you please send me some pictures of your car. Thanks!

Slapper bars eliminate wheel hop. For 1970 Jenkins sometimes used Lakewood Bars and other times he would use a different rubber snubber for the pumpkin and a shackle kit. I saw that car both ways. I never saw ladder bars on a Jenkins car till later in the 70's. You can buy frame connectors also. Lakewood bars and a pinnion snubber also helped to control roll up from the pinnion when the car left the line. Sam

Radials were becoming available in the '68-'69 time frame. T/As were out in the early '70s. Nurse Chev-Olds in Whitby, Ontario had a '69 Z/28 on the lot with radials, cross ram intake and track cam. The tires may have been dealer installed. Were they an option in '69?

Chuck
I don't have pics of the wheels but here are 15x8.5 and 15x4's on a 71-72 Camaro with M/T L-60-15 tires. My Ansen wheels are 100% identical because the ones in the pic are also Ansens.. My wheels are mint with no oxidation or curb rash. I'm going to be away from the comouter for the next several days. email me at [email protected]

Cool paint.
One personal comment on BFGs vrs vintage era tires. We have M/Ts on Englers deuce, and Belk's will also have them(only bigger). They look period correct, and hook pretty well. I have BFGs on both of my deuces. I've found they work very well in stoplight applications. Better than anything short of a Hoosier Quick time. I've found that if you drive a car that says Yenko on it(33 years of experience) that you may as well have a target on your back, because someones gonna jack with you. I agree that they may look out of place on an older day2 car. BUT, I rather kick the guys a$$ in the other lane than be pretty. My 2 cents on why I run BFGs. Re: Day 2 Modifications.

Schonye - racing is not something I had in mind with my Camaro. It is a Grandma church car with a s/b 350 with 250 horse. I only bought the car because has major documents and recpeits plus 19000 original miles. I drive the car all the time. The day 2 mods should add some nice styling changes to the car not proformance upgrades.

Summit prices are for the Indy M/Ts - good compared to other places. Also, GUYS! DO NOT BUY Wide-Ovals from Coker, they are $40 cheaper at SS396.com (ground up restoration).
Hope this helps.
