Hindsight would be not selling my 68 RS Camaro to my brother for $1500 ten years ago.

Does your brother still own it, and would he consider selling it back to you?

He sold it two years later for $1000 after replacing the powerglide with a TH350 and dropping in a built 355 cid sbc. It changed hands three more times. It recently went up on ebay for $10,000. I contacted the seller in September. I almost bought it back (he was asking $12K at the time) but I didn't like the new baby blue color with medium blue stripes. So I passed. For more on the story (and pictures) Check out the following link:

I contacted the winning bidder on ebay, be he hasn't responded yet. (It might have been a shill bid to bump the price.)

Just received a response by e-mail from Legendary Motorcar Company. I asked them if the 69 Camaro Yenko's were X-11's or X-66's, but did not give an answer. However, he did give me the current prices for the orange Yenko, yellow Yenko, and orange SS/RS L78. Here they are.

1969 Yenko orange $149,000 USD
1969 Yenko yellow $135,000 USD
1969 SS/RS L78 $59,900 USD

Less than $60K for the L78??? Wow! That's the deal of the century!

That is what I thought. I know of a guy right now, selling his 69 Camaro SS396 L78 (fully documented/datecoded) for $78,000.

The reduced prices may reflect the actual quality?

I called early in the week on the Orange 69 L78 and was told $70,000 US. I guess it really doesn't matter if it's 60 or 70, because I am not a buyer at either price

If I can ask a stupid question (which may be my specialty) how can decent cars end up at dealers all the time? If a car is really a good car, and the owner is willing to let it go for a wholesale price to a dealer, wouldn't somebody step up to buy the car at that price and cut out the dealer? If I had to give up a good car, I would rather let it go to someone who wants it to keep, rather than someone who wants to make money off me. Just my 2 cents

Ha !!! Weren't you just offered the green L78 car before the Dealer bought it ? There are usually lots of reasons People sell their cars. Sometimes they want a quick sale and don't want to put up with lots of People picking their car apart so they sell it to a Dealer and let the Dealer deal with all the tire kickers. Marketing a Car is a Pain and the Dealer usually earns his Money. I think the Canadian exchange rate has also affected the asking price on the Yenkos being discussed here. I had offered my Impala for sale here on this site but got no takers. I just sold it to a Dealer. Now it will probably be priced higher but he will probably do a better job of marketing than I did.
