I see there is NO bid retraction/cancellation history on the auction, so who is the "flake bidder" at 101210.00 ???And id love to know how in the world a seller knows how much over reserve the buyer went???? If bidder bid 101210.00 and the reserve WAS 100k,bid would have stopped at 100k..... Ill bet the bidder is going to hate ebay auctions after this too...

Even at 52K your making a profit from what I remember you bought the car on Ebay for a few months ago.

whitetop, does it matter what he paid for the car and how much profit he makes? He wants $100k for a documented drag car driven by probably the most popular name in racing besides Petty & Earnhardt. What I don't understand is the thinking that people have towards what people should be allowed to make on a car. If I buy a car that is worth $200k on the open market and give only $50k for it what is a fair price? $75k? I don't think so! A fair price is $200k, why would I want to sell for less? Should it matter that I clear $150k? No. Now lets say I bought the same car for $160k and sell it for $200k, is that a better deal since I would make less money?

You buy and sell parts just like I do, sometimes you pay only $100 for a rack of gauges that is worth $450. Why don't you sell them for $250.00 instead and make only $150 over what you paid and pass that $200 savings onto the person you sell them to? Now you may do that for someone you know, and you have done that, but when it is on Ebay or at a swap meet you sell them for all that you can get just like I do. Now this post is not to degrade you, but to degrade the statement you made. I have heard the same type of statement from other guys on this board about other cars for sale and this thinking is wrong. If the seller wants $200k and takes $160k and still makes $110k profit it should not matter as the buyer got a 20% discount on the market value of the car. So when he goes to sell it there is still room for profit for him to make, maybe not as much, but it is still a profit. Re: greensboro, nc, auto show, WOW!

A person has a right to ask whatever they want on a part or car,if someone doesnt like it they dont have to bid.I guess nice guys are the ones that give thier stuff away or sell it cheap. But that is NOT the point here at all.The point is it appears by the auction results and bid history that the buyer legally won the car and the seller seems to be reluctant in selling it now,and wants more money after the auction ended .I thought i saw a post recently on sellers getting slammed for backing out of deals, or selling cars out from under buyers to others for more money[and these were over handshakes, not legal binding contracts]..it didnt go over well with most here to say the least, perhaps this case is different?..... I still want to know who the phantom bidder of 101k was,he didnt retract his bid according to Ebay records on the auction..

Yountto, perfectly said about backing out of deals. Could not have said it better. I'll respond later tonight or tomorrow. I'm preparing my response like Collin Powell before the UN.

Kloneco, In a auction, it is the bidder who sets the price. Sometimes I pay too much for something on ebay, but I don't blame the seller.
In this case, it looks like there is a "LEGAL AND BINDING CONTRACT!" at 52k

Wow! I need to take lessons from you guys! All this time I thought you were supposed to sell cars at less than you paid for them so the next guy can make a profit (sour grapes)! Also if anyone wants to know which stock to buy, call me and then wait 2 days after I buy it, it will guaranteed be lower. "right or wrong, another car bashed unjustly" was quoted by a member...i thought unjust meant wrong only[can you be right and unjust???]...and since when is backing out of a deal right??????? no ones bashing the car, only the sellers behavoir if he doesnt sell the car to the high bidder...us little people would be ripped apart if we were the seller right now, agreed???
