Best part about driving them is the stories you here about 'back in the day.'
This Chevelle was a local car and almost every time I drive it people come up to me with old stories about it. This pic is the original owner sitting in the car. He lives in the next town over. I was at a cruz nite there and he came up to me saying "hey that's my car." It was fun to have him there to answer the "is it real" questions. |
Re: Do any of you guys ACTUALLY Drive your cars
Fortunately, our weather has been great this fall. We have taken the L79 out 2 or 3 times a week and blast through town. The Deuce also gets driven regularly. One of the shows last summer was a 200 mile round trip. Made a pass throught town in the Camaro last week. However due to the low miles and originality , I am hesitant to drive it much. Have driven it 2000 miles in the last 5 years. Jim

Re: Do any of you guys ACTUALLY Drive your cars
Now it's not a high dollar car but I drive mine. It's too much fun to just let it sit in the garage. Guess that is why I didn't opt for a frame off resto. If I could eventually afford to get a couple more cars I would like to do a frame off.
I guess asking Kevin for a ride in the Yenko Nova is out. |

My pacecar (not a supercar) but a great car, is a piece of American history. I will drive it only enough to keep it "juiced". I have 3 other Camaros that more than impress 99% of the population that are "expendable"...If one gets smashed or stolen so be it. bottom line is that we are mearly keepers of these cars and will be dead long before they rust to nothingness

Re: Do any of you guys ACTUALLY Drive your cars
Spent years restoring BB Corvettes, gave up when car shows were painful explaining why my car was correct (everyone in OZ is a Corvette expert). Started racing a A Prod Vette after visiting the NCRS at Anaheim, great time with maybe the most real race Vettes ever located, and moved on to a OZ BB drag car, that was always street registered. Best of both worlds. Don't have to put up with the idiots anymore, telling me my cars wrong, only people in the know have a clue what it is, If you don't drive them I think you get tired of them quicker.

I would not own a car I didnt drive. I went a little over board driving them home from Vettefest. I felt pretty bad for the first couple of miles. Once the snow and salt was all over the cars and I knew there was nothing I could do about it,I felt like I was 16 again. It felt kinda cool. Then I spent two days cleaning the cars.
