Re: parts
Chuck;
The Novas' standard 7in steel wheel was an XT code. |
Re: parts
You Deuce guys need to stay away from *our* Olds W-31 XT wheels !!! It's hard enough to find them in decent shape. Just put IF 's on it. They *look* the same ........

Re: parts
Hey now! Us Deuce guys only use the XT wheels for the spare tire, Don gave us Magnum 500's for the 4 corners - about a 1/2 pound weight savings per wheel, multiply by 4.5 (?) since it's rotating mass, which gives an effective weight savings of about 9lbs (?) Re: parts
One here ..... one there ..... they all add up.
On that note - were the Magnums also 14x7's ? (I'm assuming). From my cough-cough Mopar experience with Magnum 500's, they always *seemed* heavier than a plain steel wheel of like size. Those pot-metal center caps are heavy. It's interesting that they are actually lighter than a steel wheel. As a matter of fact - - speaking of Mopars - - a 15x7 Rallye wheel (you know, the ones you see on Cuda's and Challengers all the time ..), fully dressed are DEFINITELY heavier than a steel wheel, including the button cap. OK - sorry to bore you with the Mopar factoids ..... |
Re: parts
Hey Schoneye; I keep my rpm's low and ease the clutch out, otherwise, your right - they don't hook on the street.
Pete; I'm looking at your cert sheet from GM of Canada, I don't see the PL1 for white stripe tires. Was there a special canadian code for the white letter tires? sort of like the ZQ7 option specifically for 'CANADIAN WARRANTY BOOKLET & MISC LITERATURE'? |
Re: parts
Hey Marlin, my first experence with e70s and a deuce was sideways. Happened as I was leaving Rapid chev with the car. Turned to go up 1st ave, stepped into it a little, and we're sideways. I understand the originality, or personal prefrence for white stripe e70s, but back when these cars were on the street, they were the first things to leave. Pulling up side a 428 cobrajet mach one with L60s, while you had on e70s, was not a good thing! At least that way though the mustang might have had a chance

Re: parts
S;
I wholeheartedly agree, an 'E' vs. an 'L' is no contest. I'm sure you would have caught the 428 slug in third gear though, that's where I found I can really pour it on without losing traction with the 'E's. Did you ever soak your tires back in the day? We soaked a few for the pure stock drags, didn't work much better. |

Re: parts
Steve,
Check out the prior years results at the pure stock race in MI. Deuces are capable of runnin in the high 13.2's, 13.7's in 90 degree temps with high humidity. I think there have been a few 428 stangs at the pure stock event, but I don't remember what they ran. I don't recall them being very competitive when I was at those races. Any car can lose a street race on any given day based who is behind the wheel! |
Re: parts
"We soaked a few tires for the Pure Stock Drags"....... CHEATER, CHEATER,CHEATER!!!!!!!!... and we still kicked your a@@ Did'nt see the PL1 either. Thought it would be on there or something else. Original owner says it had white lettered tires. Maybe the dealership changed them as if you notice on the bill of sale, it lists polyglas tires in hand writing.
