It really did, 3.5" borla XR-1s right out the side. I had a couple neighbors that'd come out to hear it while I warmed the motor.

I did another 55 post build in 2010 through 2012 and here was the finished product. Big block Chevy 565 that on pump gas made 732 hp naturally aspirated, a tremec T56 trans, and a 4 linked 9" with lots of stainless to wrap it all up.

(LOL) With that 3" stainless exhaust, I actually had a couple neighbors that came over to thank me when I moved out of the neighborhood in 2014. :-)
It was deep sounding with all that motor, and it was loud through that exhaust system! |
My 55 gasser

My 55 gasser survivor with unknown past. Guy I got it from was going to restore it to stock. Had a different frame and full quarter panels to replace the radiused wheel wells. I told him I was glad to get it before he ruined it. 327 with Duntov cam, edelbrock c4b intake, 650 Holley double pumper and chrome fenderwell headers. Trans is an M21 muncie and stock diff with 4.10 and a posi. A ton of fun to drive and gets lots of attention.

Here's my trio of '55s (and a '56) that I built in the early '60s.
