Looks like there's a ghost "V" under the last "R" in the CRR code.

Sure is.

GREAT eye.

----I don't have Chevelle numbers. What would CRV translate to? I did notice that the R was not in the gang when it was stamped, but, L16, I think you nailed it! Is there a chance the V was a mis-stamp at Tonawanda?.....Bill S

CRR LS6 auto, CRV LS6 4-speed

Maybe in this case the guy stamping the engine made a mistake and stamped the R over the V.
I just cant see why anyone would do this otherwise.

Lynn 06-09-2022 11:24 PM

Agree.

Nevertheless, all these years later, it serves to raise suspicion for anal guys like us.....especially when there's lots of $$$$ involved.

Lynn 06-10-2022 02:17 AM

I agree Bill. But why would you restamp a legit LS6 (four speed) block to show an LS6 auto? Just makes no sense.

Although, let's face it, there is no shortage of stupidity in this hobby. I am thinking of the guy who cloned a 69 COPO Camaro into a Z/28!!!

What about the first time you saw a "factory grind out" restamp? First one I saw, I dismissed as a hack job by some Bubba.
