Are those maybe 10 held in a higher regard among ZL-1 Camaro buyers?

The current number is approximately 19 with the most recent reunion last month. There are 4 OE ZL1 engines not with the car for some reason.

There are 8 OE engines for cars not known to exist.

I would assume so. Me personally if I had to choose between equally restored cars...One a silver column auto with orig engine and the other a Lemans Blue 4 speed non orig engine....I would take the blue one. If both cars were identical I assume we would all choose the one with orig. engine.

#6 Cortez Silver automatic with complete OE DT sold for $715,000 at auction this spring, one of the highest prices ever for a ZL1. #14 Le Mans Blue 4-speed w/o OE engine sold for $605,000 at R-S 2013.

Hey Charley is that because you would be more likely to drive the car with the replacement engine or is it because you're more of a 4 speed guy? Just out of curiosity. I would assume there would be a lower price put on that car being not 100% born with parts Correct me if I am mistaken.

With only 4,000 miles and 90% original interior, and originally a red COPO, Tin Soldier would be worth a heck of a lot more "restored" than in it's drag trim, but man, than would be history lost.

FWIW, Ron just won the Class Nationals in Ohio with the Tin Soldier II this past weekend....

His son Jason whom runs the Tin Soldier III, just opened a race car fab shop in Ohio called Tin Soldier Racecars.

Two generations of history.

Column shift auto is a complete turn off for many. If you are going to have a ZL1 you are probably going to want a floor shift.
William... There are others that have gone for more than the 715K. # 3 changed hands at roughly 1.3 mil a few years ago without it's orig. engine. I used to own # 14 and would take it over # 6. I think the lower price was due to the condition difference between the two cars and the auctions. I think the # 1 ZL1 would be a hard sell if it was restored back to column auto compared to it's current race trim. I know of offers over a mil on two cars right now that are sticks.

Nope.... And hopefully nobody bugs Ken until he decides he is tired of it.
