Re: Dust Covers
White is always a excellant day two option Eddie!
I have received the repro covers, a whopping $8 including shipping. I didn't expect much, but overall they are what they are. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...6369-image.jpg First step was to remove the zinc....60 psi in the fine glass bead cabinet. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...6370-image.jpg Second step, finishing the metal and prepping to finish. I was happy at this steps completion, but I wanted them aged a bit and I've still never seen them this crisp. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...6371-image.jpg Final step was aging them or better yet, adding the correct patina....Day 2 if you will...Used a OA torch to heat to approx 250 degree and quenched them in oil bath. The oil never boiled, just a smooth dip. My days spent heat treating came back to me quick. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...6372-image.jpg BIG |
Re: Dust Covers
The zinc on the inside has not been disturbed and I left the bare steel under the lip.

Re: Dust Covers
I hear ya Sam...The plan is my MT S/S Slicks in the rear on black XT's & my body color FC's in the front w/ the F-70 WW sans dog dish caps. I just could not stomach the look of the dust covers to pull it off....Things be changing now..
