Re: 1969 L35 X66 Conv cortez over blk dlx
The seat vinyl was clean however the comfort weave still looked dirty/tired so I called a friend who cleans high end rugs and fabrics.
He gave me instructions and some cleaners which won't mildew and also kill odors then we extracted more crap from the comfort weave than I can believe. The difference in feel is amazing, it looks better, is softer feeling and the cushions appear for lack of better word fuller. Here are some taken with a macro lens https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...4-100_2031.jpg Actual size is 5/8" tall by 13/16" wide. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...5-100_2049.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...6-100_2038.jpg Actual size is 7/16" tall x 3/4" wide |

Wow! Reminds me of those psychadelic(spell?) era posters. James, can you tell us what cleaners to use? or is that a trade secret?

After I explained what I thought the cleaning pro offered some suggestions such as the direction of spray, cleaning solution etc. He explained that you need to extract at a higher rate than the volume of solution which is injected. The extraction head is approx 4" wide with a 1/8" opening running the width and the nozzle injects the solution at an angle towards the head. theoretically the solution loops from the nozzle through the fabric then right back through the fabric into the extraction head. Pulling the cleaner and dirt away. There is a clear section on the tube, I really had no idea how nasty a 45k mile interior could become. I don't know a name of the solution or if it was something he had developed after 15 years in the business, he said it was a solution of a non foaming oxy cleaner and a deodorizer which we then mixed with scalding hot water. 4 oz to a gallon. As a Precaution I wanted to measure the cleaning solution before and after, the loss due to evaporation and wicking was less than 1%. We used a 5 hp carpet cleaning machine with a fabric extraction head. Here is a gallon of solution from the pass front seat cushion. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...3-100_2026.jpg |
