Looking forward to the restoration. Off to a good start. The only way to learn is to do it yourself.

Re: Tyler's 1971 Chevelle Restoration
Well, Weathers has been bad. But here is a query:
This came with the car but is too small for the back seat. Can anyone identify this lower rear seat? http://chevynova.org/hidden/Tyler%27s_1971/DSCN2960.JPG http://chevynova.org/hidden/Tyler%27s_1971/DSCN2958.JPG Tag http://chevynova.org/hidden/Tyler%27s_1971/DSCN2959.JPG Flipped http://chevynova.org/hidden/Tyler%27...CN2959Flip.JPG |

Re: Tyler's 1971 Chevelle Restoration
Hello,
Well between Tyler's School, new job, and the holidays he did have not much time for the Chevelle. He called and said he had a three day week end and was going to make some progress. Here is the start: Trying to see how many coats of paint we on the car. http://chevynova.org/hidden/Tyler%27s_1971/DSCN4397.JPG Look like several! http://chevynova.org/hidden/Tyler%27s_1971/DSCN4417.JPG Trying to see if the trunk gutters were salvageable. http://chevynova.org/hidden/Tyler%27s_1971/DSCN4408.JPG http://chevynova.org/hidden/Tyler%27s_1971/DSCN4409.JPG http://chevynova.org/hidden/Tyler%27s_1971/DSCN4411.JPG http://chevynova.org/hidden/Tyler%27s_1971/DSCN4412.JPG http://chevynova.org/hidden/Tyler%27s_1971/DSCN4413.JPG http://chevynova.org/hidden/Tyler%27s_1971/DSCN4414.JPG Looks like they are. |

Now on to see what the tail pan looks like. Bumper has to come off first: http://chevynova.org/hidden/Tyler%27s_1971/DSCN4418.JPG http://chevynova.org/hidden/Tyler%27s_1971/DSCN4422.JPG http://chevynova.org/hidden/Tyler%27s_1971/DSCN4424.JPG http://chevynova.org/hidden/Tyler%27s_1971/DSCN4426.JPG http://chevynova.org/hidden/Tyler%27s_1971/DSCN4427.JPG http://chevynova.org/hidden/Tyler%27s_1971/DSCN4429.JPG http://chevynova.org/hidden/Tyler%27s_1971/DSCN4430.JPG http://chevynova.org/hidden/Tyler%27s_1971/DSCN4432.JPG http://chevynova.org/hidden/Tyler%27s_1971/DSCN4433.JPG |

Tail lights from the back:

He is not too crazy about the paint. He is thinking Cortez Silver or Shadow Gray...... http://chevynova.org/hidden/Tyler%27s_1971/DSCN4454.JPG Note the hard mask line is that factory? http://chevynova.org/hidden/Tyler%27s_1971/DSCN4455.JPG Is that black out like that from the factory? http://chevynova.org/hidden/Tyler%27s_1971/DSCN4456.JPG Where the rear valence / tail pan attaches http://chevynova.org/hidden/Tyler%27s_1971/DSCN4461.JPG Rubber gasket and nut. http://chevynova.org/hidden/Tyler%27s_1971/DSCN4463.JPG http://chevynova.org/hidden/Tyler%27s_1971/DSCN4465.JPG |

Close up of the gasket.

Here is what it looked like under it: http://chevynova.org/hidden/Tyler%27s_1971/DSCN4485.JPG Incorrect hinge bolts. http://chevynova.org/hidden/Tyler%27s_1971/DSCN4489.JPG http://chevynova.org/hidden/Tyler%27s_1971/DSCN4490.JPG http://chevynova.org/hidden/Tyler%27s_1971/DSCN4491.JPG http://chevynova.org/hidden/Tyler%27s_1971/DSCN4492.JPG Trunk latch and deck lid look original. The lock opening looks messed up. Not sure if that could be fixed. Pic was blurry so didn't post it. http://chevynova.org/hidden/Tyler%27s_1971/DSCN4494.JPG |
Re: Tyler's 1971 Chevelle Restoration
Here is the rear completely disassembled. Looks like the part behind the trunk catch is salvageable. Just need a complete trunk pan from AMD.
http://chevynova.org/hidden/Tyler%27s_1971/DSCN4495.JPG one marked light was still installed. The other in the pile of parts. http://chevynova.org/hidden/Tyler%27s_1971/DSCN4496.JPG http://chevynova.org/hidden/Tyler%27s_1971/DSCN4497.JPG http://chevynova.org/hidden/Tyler%27s_1971/DSCN4498.JPG This should clean up and be re-useable. http://chevynova.org/hidden/Tyler%27s_1971/DSCN4499.JPG http://chevynova.org/hidden/Tyler%27s_1971/DSCN4500.JPG http://chevynova.org/hidden/Tyler%27s_1971/DSCN4502.JPG http://chevynova.org/hidden/Tyler%27s_1971/DSCN4503.JPG http://chevynova.org/hidden/Tyler%27s_1971/DSCN4504.JPG |
