The driver was knocked out on the initial wall hit...the throttle hung and the front end damage locked the front wheel(s) basically making it like a line lock. Last I read, there was some discussion that the throttle was possibly stuck open prior to hitting the wall and is what caused the carnage, but the driver says it's still fuzzy... |

I was there for that one. I also remember Eddie Hills violent explosion that knocked him out, but don't remember what year. Maybe 2001?

I remember watching this one. Man, those were the days of racing. Dale in the lead and Bill Elliott in 2nd. Nice to see the 43 car in there too. The not so long ago good ole days.

That is way to long. With todays electronic widgets it would be pretty easy to have sensors that detect a hit on the car and instantly shuts everything off. Jan |
