[ QUOTE ] Very neat car! Why did a 22k mile car need a resto in the first place, and why would someone spend the $$ restoring the car? This car must have been worth more than half the current asking price prior to its restoration... and the resto must have cost more than half the current asking price? So with all due respect, what am I missing? [/ QUOTE ] Missing is you....Where were you when it was for sale as an unrestored car? You should have jumped on it then! Probably too busy watching your hockey team loose to the Blackhawks! Dan. [/ QUOTE ] https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/haha.gif You're right, where was I??? Although my Flames and your Blackhawks are about due for a rematch! Unfortunately, the opportunity has passed. I would have rather owned it before it was restored... and paid $45k less what it cost to restore it. |

The pebble grain on the steering wheel looks about right for the mileage, if its the original wheel(?). Did the car originally come with power brakes?

[ QUOTE ] pretty rough looking brake & clutch pedals for 20k original miles [/ QUOTE ] I was waiting for someone to bring that up. [/ QUOTE ] In the only picture of the brake and clutch pedals I see, they are blurry enough (they were not the focus of the picture) that I don't think I could make any kind of reasonable assessment of condition https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif They just appear to me to have some dirt on them. I sure like the car. I am guessing this is not the same car that Scott S was selling early this year, although it appears to be similarly equipped??? |

Both items are easily replaced, moot point. Let the original documentation and the cars history guide you.

Re: 1969 Malibu 4 speed 3.31 posi 22k orig miles
A friend bought one identical to this car new from Rapids in Cedar Rapids Ia. A Malibu was way cheaper to insure than a SS 396,and a well tuned 350 was about as fast as a 325hp 396.

I've seen plenty of low mile cars that have been restored. It is not what I would have done but many people want new shiny looking cars and don't appreciate patina. ... [/ QUOTE ] I appreciate patina https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gif where are the "before" pictures? |

pretty rough looking brake & clutch pedals for 20k original miles [/ QUOTE ] Andy, My 69 SS has 27K miles and the clutch pedal pad is pretty rough. The pedal pads on this car look original and don't look too bad to me. If you think about how much a clutch pedal gets used, especially if the driver is a down-shifter; I'd say these don't look bad. Just my $.02 worth. Phil Woj. |
