Re: 1968 Z28 COWL COLOR

MINE IS GLOSS BLACK ALL THE WAY TO THE FENDERS JUST LIKE THE PICTURES OF THE Z/11 CAR THAT IS PAINTED ORANGE ALL THE WAY ACROSS ? I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS IN CORRECT TO GO ALL THE WAY TO THE FENDER BUT YOU CAN TELL IT HAS NOT BEEN TOUCHED ON MY CAR !

Re: 1968 Z28 COWL COLOR

So far, in my research on the subject has shown that stripe-color paint was painted in a section as shown in the image I've posted here (69 Z11 03B)...as well as paint all the way across the cowl between the pinch weld and from the base of the windshield to the top front edge of the firewall. So far, there hasn't been a rhyme or reason to LOS or NOR...can somebody chime in?

Thanks,

Tony probably has a good point here. I sent firez a picture of an 02E car that was built 15 cars before mine. White stripes but lemans blue across the cowl like the car Tony has posted. My car, with black stripes was not like this.

Not sure of the first cars' build date or assembly plant, but here are some OP (original paint) Z28's:

your picture is an example of how NORWOOD painted the Z10/Z11 cars, not Van Nuys

again, the pictures I posted earlier are ONLY for Van Nuys cars ...

SO ON A BLACK STRIPE CAR THE COWL AND FIREWALL WILL ALL BLEND TOGETHER ?

[/ QUOTE ]
no, because the firewall paint is NOT the same gloss as the stripe paint, the top of the cowl will appear shinier the firewall as the rest of the engine compartment & firewall paint is not the same as the gloss black they used on the exterior of the cars ...

then the Z11 you pictured is a Norwood car as well? I have owned over a dozen Z10/Z11's and I have never seen a Norwood car done any way other than your picture above.

have not ever seen a Van Nuys car without the seam to seam cowl covered with stripe color, but then I have not looked at every single car ever built https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gif

Re: 1968 Z28 COWL COLOR

These are some shots from an 04D LOS special paint 68Z that was at Carlisle this year. Original paint and most components still on the car. Looks to me like the area under the cowl is all black gloss same as stripe color on this one as well.

Hope it helps. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif

Which after looking at your profile, turns out as being yours. Have a few others in my unrestored archive discs, will try and dig them up for you. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif
