Re: 68 Grand Prix--yay or nay?
I still think it's a nice car.It has a lot of WOW factor.

Re: 68 Grand Prix--yay or nay?
1st of all, I think it is an awesome car, very nice, would love to own it even though I too, am not a fan of red cars (well said above).
but I also agree with the others about the "puffery" It simply reads bad and raises doubt and detracts from how nice the car is on its own merits Case in point is the other car listed by the same seller: "Chevrolet : Impala 1966 Chevrolet Impala SS 396 4 Speed runs Like a SS 427 " In the description it says : "It runs and sounds nasty with the feel of a 427-425 hp engine!!" The GP is not an HO and the SS 396 is not an SS 427 or an L72 solid lifter car, the descriptions would read better if the "fishing lures" were left out IMHO |
Re: 68 Grand Prix--yay or nay?
Don, very nice car and good luck with the sale. I didn't have any problems with the wording, the docs speak for the car.
I'm a big fan of 4sp big cars and this is the highest optioned 4sp '68 that I've seen...https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...-I-Have-It.gif Mike |
Re: 68 Grand Prix--yay or nay?
A big Poncho w/ hideaways and a stick is a great combo...good luck w/ the sale!.
The only thing cooler for '68 may be the Canadian Grande Parisiennes we got up here...B-Body Ponchos w/ hideaways and factory Chevy MK1V's!. http://mclellansautomotive.com/photos/B12386.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif ~ Pete -------------------- I like real cars best...the REAL real ones! |
Re: 68 Grand Prix--yay or nay?
When I lived in Detroit a few years ago, I looked at a '68 2+2 ragtop with a 427/385 4-speed. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/drool.gif

Re: 68 Grand Prix--yay or nay?
Ah, that must have been really cool.
My "first" car was a 1970 Sport Fury, so I have an affinity for big cars. Plus they're so roomy. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif Had bucket seats, Rallye Wheels, console. Sadly, it was an automatic. I swear if I ever find a 4-speed, I'll do whatever it takes to get it. Also a big fan of the '69 Biscaynes, Impalas & Caprices with 4-speeds. |
Re: 68 Grand Prix--yay or nay?
A '68 L36 2+2 Ragtop would surely be a low build but w/ the stick too...Whttps://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gifW!.
Do you remember what color it was and if it had hideaways?. I wonder if any of the same combo were ever built w/ the L72?https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/hmmm.gifhttps://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/drool.gif. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif ~ Pete |
Re: 68 Grand Prix--yay or nay?
Jim, In all do respect both those cars run and sound better than original! I have seen and heard them both at least a few times. In the fluff department..........don't know many sellers that don't try to "fluff" a little. As long as it isn't lies or misleading than a little "fluff" is part of the deal. After all, the sellers want to sell their cars and the market is tight. They are both real nice cars, especially for that money. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif

Re: 68 Grand Prix--yay or nay?
Jeez, another big red 4-speed car. Too bad doesn't have a 427. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Cars-Truc...A1%7C240%3A1318
