Ink stamping. I guess after the ink wears off, there is no way of identifying this??

Among other subtle details, the fact that there's no F & P stamped into it helps narrow it down as a later issued as well.

Re: Ebay 458DA pulley, is this repop?
I'd like some opinions on a 458DA pulley I ran across.
I see a slight outline of an oval around the stamped numbers. It came off a smog pump that is dated 2382. Could this be what some of the 71 72 versions looked like as the dies wore out that did the stamping? http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e4...8pulley003.jpg http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e4...8pulley004.jpg |

If you think the above pulley is an original, tell me why, and if you think it's a repop, let me know the reasons also. |
Re: Ebay 458DA pulley, is this repop?
Could you post a pic of the rear of the pulley?

Please help educate the masses.......
When these 458 pulleys are installed on the pump, in the car, they are quite difficult to tell Original GM from repop..... Given the asking/selling prices ($400-$500) for "real" 458's isnt the money better spent elsewhere.........like on "real" cam lifters, "real" valve springs. I'm for OEM original parts almost as much as anybody, but some repops are so close, especially in the installed position Go ahead, flame suit on !!!!!!!! |
